Engine and VSC Lights

I was wondering if anyone else has had this happen to them. From what I can tell, when I have my engine off and am running my radio and therefore putting a load on my battery for more than about ten minutes, when I start the engine, both my check engine light and both vsc lights come on. After about 30 minutes of driving they simply go away. Just struck me as weird and I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem.

If you have an 03, and possibly a very early 04, you could have a traction control computer issue. There is a TSB on this, and mine was replaced under warranty. My lights started coming on at first, and eventutally the traction control was screwing-up big time - tried to pull me off the road at least twice!

Never happened to me. I have '05.

yeah I am not going to take it to a dealer. It is a 2004 and my VSC works just fine at all other times, I guess it's just a quirk.

Mine did too. The lights would come & go, sometimes staying on for a while. Eventually, after a few months, the serious stuff started. It scared the bajeezers outa us & coulda caused an accident. I'm just glad I wasn't towing when it finally decided to go south.

Happened to me when I had my 04. It was the catalytic converter. Whooda thunk it?? They'll be able to diagnose it within minutes.

Maybe I will take it in the next time it happens. I just hate to pay someone $80 dollars to "diagnose" my car. Especially when it is running just fine right now. Because you know they will never say that there is nothing wrong. I know this neems a little cynical, but I am yet to find a dealer who isn't trying to make a little extra money off the unknowing.

This was a big issue for me, because I could never get the lights to stay on when I took it to the dealer. The service manager (whom I have some relationship with) didn't charge me for hooking up the hand computer to read codes. There were never any hard codes - at least until the traction control system tried to pull us off the road twice one day.

$2,000 later (covered under extended warranty), I now have a new computer & yaw sensor. There is a TSB on this.
