Engine Check & TCS Light on and off after Snow Trip

08 Urban Runner V6 4WD at 68k miles.

I live at sea level and went at a skiing trip in Tahoe, which is at 6500ft. I woke up in the morning and the Check engine light was on and TCS was blinking. After 5 days, they all went off, and came back again after another 2 days. CAr drives absolutely fine. Tires and brakes are all new, got the 60k service done. All fluids fresh.

Car is dirty as hell. Would a good car wash help in case mud is blocking a sensor or something similar?

Has anybody experienced this? Any ideas why or how I can solve it?

Autozone doesn't scan in CA, and Stealer is asking $145. I searched the forum with no exact matches, so looking for any guidance.

If when you say TCS you are talking about the Skip Indicator light and you have a check engine light then the first thing to check is if the gas cap is tight.

We encounter a good bit of snow in ours and never had that happen. Have you tried disconnecting the battery for bit?

Check for a faulty gas cap.

I should have mentioned, gas cap is the first thing I checked.

UPDATE:
Got the codes checked and cleared and the lights came back after a week.

PO 456 - Evap System Small Leak
C1223 - Fault in ABS Control System
C1249 - Open Circuit in Stop Light Circuit

Anybody experience this? Ideas?

I will start researching as well.

I don't know anything about the second two, but the first one is consistent with a loose or faulty gas cap, so you may want to start by replacing that. I doubt you'd be able to tell via visual inspection if the one you've got is bad or not, so it's probably worth the $15 or $20 it'd cost to buy a new one.

Is it possible you've got a brake light out that could lead to one of the other two?

It's a fairly good summary of thing to look for.

8 days ago...I disconnected the battery, put on a new Fuel Cap, Connected the battery back up. No more lights.
