Engine light

Hey all. My engine light is on, 1988 4runner. I'm trying to jump the diagnostic terminal with a piece of wire. Not working for me. Any suggestions?

They are only interested in taking your money...don't believe a word they say. Stealerships are in the business of making money by selling new cars and charging criminal rates for repairs; NOT by keeping your classic on the road. Autozone can read the codes for you for free, order the part cheaply and give you instructions for changing said part....THEY are in the business of keeping your car on the road.

Dealerships like to tell you why you should get rid of your classic by picking them apart and scaring you...they only work on them for the outrageous labor cost they charge. In short, they could care less if its a classic; in fact, people driving classics puts them out of business.

The Haynes manual shows how this is done and lists the codes. It's worth the $20 to pick up a Haynes.
