Engine Misfire (p0306 + random)

ill explain my situation, last week while starting up the suv and leaving it to warm up i start hearing weird noises but didnt bother since it does all sort of weird noises when cold. When i started driving it down the road however, the engine was not only sounding like a machine gun but the whole truck was shaking like no tommorow. I read the CEL codes (my CEL light burned out) and found out 4 pending faults on Torque: P0141,P0171 (These two were there ages ago) , P0300 And P0306. I brought it to the local garage cause Toyota was booked for the two following week.

The garage found Spark plug #6 being loose and worned out, same for #3. They proceeded to change all spark plugs, test the cables, and the coils. All check out fine.

Then after further testing, they told me the injectors were spraying fuel, and they found the catalytic converter to be clogged, and so they swapped it.

Still didnt fix the issue, so they tried the fuel filter and after all of that the issue was less loud and it was more a rough idling. But once under load it would cause it to stutter and shake the whole car again. Reading the Codes once more, it now showed: P0300,301,303,304,305,306 as Current Fault.

After clearing the faults, and running it a bit around, i noticed that past 2000 RPM the misfiring was less noticable, and turned into more of a lack of power. but once under 2000 RPM the car shakes and rattles and cant accelerate well. So now its back to the garage.

Summing it up:

-Changed: Spark plugs,Catalytic Converter, fuel filter.
-Tested : Coils, Wires (they are both new from 2 years ago but they tested fine), Fuel injectors (no idea how they did it)
-Codes: P0306, But at some point had all cylinder misfiring minus #2.+ P0300 code.

I also checked the spark plug how they wired it up back just in case and its in the correct order. Now the mechanic told me the TPS was being slugish and would take about half a second to a second to reconized throttle position. they didnt changed it cause they didnt think it would be causing engine misfire.

Anyone have any idea or even leads?

Thank you for taking your time for reading.

Well p0141 = FAIL-SAFE CHART If any of the following codes is recorded, the ECM enters fail-safe mode. This code is included in the list. This code reads: Oxygen Sensor Heater Circuit Malfunction (this is the rear sensor - bank1 sensor 2)

I'd also pay attention to the P0171 - lean (even after adding all the fuel it can).

So intake leak after the MAF is possible.

Luck and enjoy the runner. :cowboy:

They did found a crack in the air inlet so that was throwing the lean codes. as for the 0141, it just dissapeared since they change the catalytic converter.

Maybe your 4Runner has been running rich for a long time due to the cracked intake duct causing false lean and it fried your converters, possibly O2 sensors and some of that converter is still plugging up the muffler.
