Engine oil leak 2015 4runner limited.

Hello all.
I have A 2015 4RUNNER limited with about 65K miles on it.

I started noticing oil drips on the garage floor. I removed the TRD skid plate, and found oil collected over that, and around the oil filter housing.

The leak seams to be coming from above the oil filter cartridge.
Oil "spray" is visible from the top side as well.

I have checked the oil levels, and all seams ok.

any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Did you Change your oil recently? Split the o-ring maybe?

I have a very slow "seep" coming from the timing cover cover, on the left front cylinder bank. It's been discussed before but not sure if the issue was taken care of on later model motors. But mine was never a spray or drippy. Good luck

I have changed the oil twice since I noticed the leak.

It is due for a change again, I am going to double check the correct position when installing the new oring.

Yep, make sure the upper and lower rings are in place and oil both before assembling so they aren't pulled out of place as you tighten things. I don't recall the torque, but it's barely more than hand tight.

Found the source of the oil leak

brought the Runnner into the dealership.

The crankcase seal is to blame. with oil change the bill will be about 850 bucks.

Cause he is at 65k miles which exceeds the warranty period.

Isnt the powertrain coverage 7yrs/100k? Or is that just on certified used?

Just on used or if you buy an extended warranty.

Torque for the oil filter cartridge is 18 ft. Lbs. It is also printed on the Toyota oil filter boxes if you forget.
