Engine seems to be constantly over-cooling

Just picked up another 4runner a few days ago '01 Limited 93K :biggrin2: But I have noticed that the 4runner seems to be very loud when accelerating. It's almost like it's working too hard to cool itself down, but I have had no symptoms of overheating or any running issues. Just a loud roaring noise when giving it gas. Any ideas? I'm going to go get the cooling system checked as it's probably never been done before. I did some research and I found an article with a bad clutch fan, but it didnt seem to fit my problem.

And, the noise gets louder as the RPMs go up.

Thanks in advance!

If the fan clutch stayed engaged, it would be very loud when accelerating or revving the engine. Normally it would partially freewheel so it would be turning but not at the same speed as the engine. When the clutch get's warm enough it engages more, or slips less, in order to draw more air. If it engaged all the way and got stuck, or rusted, it would be drawing a whole lot of air, and making a whole lot of noise.
