engine swap

SAYWHAT

In the process of putting V-6 engine from 1998 into 1999. Wiring harness connectors that plug into transfer case, tranny and engine are identical on both. The ECU end of the harness differs so I will have to take the harness from the 1999 and put on the 1998 engine. The 1998 ECU will not plug and play in the 1999. The problem I now see is the 1999 uses a different part number for the fuel injectors vs the 1998. The connectors are the same but the 1999 ECU will be controlling them. Am I going to have a problem with this?

The connectors are not the same.

They look like they are, but the harness will not clip onto the connector.

Swap out injectors and you'll be fine. 10 minute job, and you're already that far into the motor anyway.

Thanks Doc, where can I get new O-rings for the injectors? Does the fuel rail need new washers? Thanks Jim

If you're careful, probably not.

As for as where to get them, Dealership is probably the best bet.

Washers couldnt hurt.

The O-rings are available locally but can not find a listing for the fuel rail gaskets. Toyota dealer is 45 miles away!
