Engine VIN question

Hey guys,

This might be a stupid question but I have a 91 T4R with the 3.slow in it. I had a rebuilt engine put in a while back because I had 2 bad cylinders and I have not been satisfied with the performance of the rebuilt engine due to the fact that it seems to drive the same as it did with the 2 bad cylinders. Is there any way to verify if it is in fact a different engine such as a VIN number or serial number on the block. I appreciate the help.

Yes there is a serial number, I think it's near/behind the alternator.

Bump! Anybody have a more difinitive answer I really don't feel like pulling out the alternator if it isn't necessary....Thanks

I wish I had a better answer than fourwd1, but he's basically a 1st gen wizard....... so, no suh, I cant help ya suh. Trust any local mechanics?
