My bluetooth and phone setup prompts/buttons are missing/greyed out on the Entune head unit display.
I've had my 2016 4runner since October 2015 and never had any issues with my Entune Premium Audio System with Nav, (non Jbl). Suddenly a month ago the Bluetooth and phone buttons are greyed out in settings. I attempted to access it by pressing the phone button on the steering wheel and it gets stuck on "Bluetooth is initializing. Please try again shortly."
I've read various toyota forums and only came across one similar post and there is no resolution posted. I called my dealership and they were clueless so I called Entune. They gave me a TSB# to give my dealership to reference. The TSB recommended an update, 13TDANNA-DA11_0140.kwi. I found this update on the Toyota downloads website and attempted to install it. I got an error it was not compatible, so I removed the SD as the TSB instructs, attempted again, and still got the same error. I called Entune again and they informed me the TSB was revised in April 2017 and the download on the Toyota downloads website was not the correct version. I informed my dealership of this when I went in for my appointment, however, they attempted the same download I did and got the same error. They said they'd need to contact toyota tech support and would need to reschedule after researching the issues.
I had my 2nd appointment a week and a half later, and whatever they tried that Toyota recommended, didn't work and they said it needs a new head unit. I've been waiting 2 and a half weeks for it to come in. In the meantime I've tried just about everything. I've uninstalled Entune from my phone, forgot all devices connected to my phone, and wiped cache. I'm unable to enter bluetooth on the entune unit to remove my phone from the unit, so instead I deleted all personal info through settings. I tried connecting 3 other phones too, and no other phone, iOS 9, 10 or Android version 7.0, can see my toyota. It's like its unplugged. Weird thing is, my presets for my radio and XM come and go. Sometimes, my Entune appears to have been reset to factory, and other times if I soft reset it a couple times my presets from when I bought the 4runner return. I sometimes create a few new presets for longer trips when I'm unable to access my old ones, then later, after restarting the ignition my original presets will return. I'm no longer able to play audio from an iPhone either in the USB port, I've tried that and get a connection error.
I'm tired of waiting for my new head unit, I'm on the road a lot and rely on my Bluetooth features to be hands free. Today I disconnected the negative battery cable for 4 hours, and still no success. The button is still greyed out and Bluetooth is waiting to initialize. An other users experience Bluetooth failure? Just curious if there is something the dealership might be overlooking? Do I really need a new head unit?
