Micro SD Card

Hey all, I hope this is the right forum and I apologize in advance if there's a thread for this already, please direct me if there is, just don't have time at the moment to search.

My 2016 Trail Premium started having issues with the Entune Radio/Navi display rebooting constantly while driving. It started a few months ago where it would do it occasionally, but today while on the hwy it just continually rebooted over and over. So, being a trouble-shooter by trade, I ascertained pretty quickly that the problem seems to be with the micro SD card holding the navigation maps. After I removed the card, the problem stopped. So this isn't the typical issue with the Bluetooth phone incompatibility. I haven't tried reproducing the problem, but I will soon to see if I am correct in that it is the SD card.

So I am wondering the following:

1) has anyone found the SD card to be problematic and cause this issue?
2) is there an update for the maps that we can download and install without going through Toyota?

Thanks!

You can buy the sd card on ebay for around $35 shipped, legit toyota cards. Just make sure it's the latest revision. I don't know if this will fix the issue but don't go and pay for the $175 or what ever service dealers charge. Note that the card does take about 20 minutes to install once inserted

You might try downloading updates to the sound system at: Home

1) Make sure you've got the latest Entune updates and any 'over the air' updates for the head unit... it's been years since they have pushed updates, and they did seem to finally resolve the occasional random reboots that these head units had.

2) Updated maps come only on a new SD card. Recently bought one off of eBay and it works great.
I would start with updating firmware, and then new SD card, unless you're looking for an excuse for a map update.

You could also try some Deoxit D5 on the card and the card slot. A contact issue probably isn't your problem, but it might help.

Thanks, guys. Yeah, I definitely did a firmware update maybe 8-10 months ago. But I am sure there is another update out there. I will go ahead and get another card on eBay for the maps as well...

Thanks,
Bart
