She just made $19 million salary for herself.
Epipen is primitive device with two common drugs combined, why no one makes more of them? I`m sure indian pharma industry can make them $5 in retail.

We have one big referendum.
If everyone is happy with the state of medical technology as it exists today, the pharma industry is nationalized, prices are reduced to the cost of manufacturing and the newly created US Department of Drugs and Medical Devices spins its wheels for the next 100 years trying to invent the equivalatent of a band-aid.

There are many alternatives that work just as well. EPIPEN is a brand that is like Kleenex. You don't even know the name of the product just the name of the producer because they have owned the market for so long. Adrenaclick is one competitor. There are several for use in Canada but the FDA won't approve the use here.
Hell, a syringe and a vial of epinephrine is less than $20 but you had better be quick if you are going to administer it yourself. (and know a bit about what you are doing too)

The idea that in an emergency situation you'll be calm enough to break out a syringe, pull the correct dosage and then give yourself or your loved one an intramuscular injection doesn't really work. It's the patented proven delivery system that Epipen banks on since big pharma is in bed with he government.
My last epipens cost a whopping $25 co pay. Sad deal for families without insurance though.

Going to pick up my refill in an hour or so. I'm assuming it will be $30 copay, but I do have the free coupon for it, but since I used that once before I'm not sure if it works. My allergist hand out the free coupons and has for 5 years or so.
When I bought my second one in January a couple of years ago, my deductible hadn't been met yet, so I had to pay $293.
Sad that they had to raise the price on a generic drug. They say you are paying for the ease and convenience of the injector, but that technology has been around for years, so unless they are raising the price to research something new, no clue why it is so expensive. (And in that case, I would assume they would raise the price on the new drug, and not an old one like Shkrelli(sp?) did with Daraprim)

One of the worst parts is highlighted in this article. They lobbied to make it mandatory for schools to stock them, then raised the price and left the country to a tax haven.
There were only a couple of alternatives available, mostly only for those that have unique allergies. My boss had an Auvi-Q that had a recording telling you how to use it on him if he was unconscious. He had a deathly Allergy to poultry, and several other things.
I think in the long run they are only hurting themselves. Others will develop and bring to market alternative systems quickly due to the bad taste in everyone mouth. They practically had a monopoly before, they could have held it if they hadn't gotten greedy.
That is unless they have discovered another way to treat deathly allergies such as gene therapy and are milking the market until they can get the treatment approved and ready for market. Who knows?

and for those who didn`t know, Mylan din`t spent a penny on research in this case, they bought it from German manufacturer Mersk.
i wish Insurance companies will find a loophole there somewhere and sue Mylan to bankruptcy.
