Howdy folks. been thinking about painting this body indentation stip thing for some time. so i have both sides taped off, and waiting for my final decision. i have a strip on the tip of my hood and my rocker panels rhino lined. should i just matt black this part or rhino line it as well. whatch yall think?

Do it with Plasti-Dip to see if you like it. It will be unique, but could look cool. Go for it.

my wife plasti-diped her wheels. she too has a 97 auto. idk if i like it. im basically romantically in love with highly textured paint. not soo much in the matt black colors. BUT, do i need to have textured paint on this part of my car? i dont really think so. its not protecting anything....hmmm...

Yeah plastidip and you might wanna relook at the tape job. Looks like its off on the bottom door but it could be the glare...

Just Plasti-dip to see how it looks and if you like it peel it off and do it fo reals yo.

I vote no, leave it alone.. However, if you feel the urge to do it please use plasti-dip first. Some 3rd gen models came with factory pin striping. You could try that route instead?

I'd say leave it be, but that's because I'm more used to seeing solid paint schemes. Seems like body streaks and graphics are big in Euro and Asian countries (and Fast & Furious movies)...not so much in the states. In the end, if YOU like it...go for it! +1 for plastidip test.

I might be in the minority but I've always liked the stripes that some 4runners (and pickups) came with, I thought they were kind of retro, classic cool, but I'm into that kind of stuff (like the giant "toyota" on the pickup tailgate). Maybe you could put small breaks in the line to give it a //////// look?

But as has been said definitely use plasti-dip!

But to the OP, I personally think it would look dumb, but that's me. Like everyone has said, do a non-permanent test run before you decide.

I hope for $#%€¥! Sake that you spray plasti-dip first before you ruin your paint job .

Even if you have the right paint (not rustolium LMAO) and know what you are doing there is still a strong chance it will look like crap because blending two colors in a perfect line is not easy at all.

Try it with plasti dip first and even then if you like it and it looks good you may still damage the paint when you do it with real paint.

Just plasti-dip and spray bedliner over the plasti dip. Its how most of my friends paint their wheels because its 100 times easier than stripping down paint and its reversible. Altho its going to be much harder to remove because bedliner is much harder than your regular paint. GL

I say no.... Personally, not a fan of striping, unless you're driving a Viper, or a muscle car of some kind. Hell, even a Muscle truck looks alright... but not a 4Runner. Sorry man....
