Excess brake dust...

Barely under 3k miles on my new 2015 and I've noticed a odd amount of brake dust on my front wheels. Anyone else have any similar issues? I live up 12% grade so I'm wondering if my wife has been riding the brakes instead of gearing down.

Likely normal.

But if you live on a 12% grade you really should be gearing down.

I've seen rotors warped in less than two years time on some 4Runners.

Thanks, I sort of figured so. I think she just throws on down hill assist when I'm not in the car. Glad we picked up her new Outback so I could take over the 4Runner all the time.:lookout:

You will get less brake dust after the initial break-in (no pun intended).

You want to see brake dust, buy a BMW. ;-)

Just look at BMW's as you drive. You will see one of two things:

1) Owners who really care for their cars and the front rims look good
or
2) Wheels that have the brake dust burned into the clear coat and look like crap

Prior M3 owner opinion. Great car, horrendous brake dust.

I'll argue Audis are worse, my wife's wheels will never be the same...

I've never noticed much dust from my 4Runner, even early on...

Coming from an m3 the brake dust on these things is non existent. The amount I have after 3 weeks is 1 day on the m.

Lets not argue. They are BOTH (Audi and BMW) horrendous when it comes to brake dust.

The 4Runner - a little dust but nothing unusual.
