Excessive blow-by problem?

Hello everyone I'm in here today wondering about my blowby problem. I get a lot of white sludge under my oil cap without losing coolant or discoloration if my oil. I have recently also been getting oil in my air filter which led me to believe my PCV valve might have gone bad. Recently replaced my PCV and it seems as if that solved the air filter issue (I've only checked it twice and have not seemed to get more oil in there). Now I'm worried about my oil cap... I have been getting codes recently for inefficient cat... and o2 Sensors but I'm not sure if that would cause excessive blowby... I would want to say yes because aren't some of those Sensors air/fuel Sensors as well? Help me out guys anyone else have this problem? I have 03 4Runner Sport btw with the 4.0L.

short trips do give some white froth on the oil cap. maybe warm the truck up more and take longer trips. what oil are you using? i know it does that with mobil 1 too. since i take care of my dad's truck, his commute is not even more than 2.5 miles, and when i open the cap up, i see some froth, he doesnt warm the truck enough also.

Yeah I do a lot of short trips considering I work about three blocks from my house. That's probably what I'm seeing but I'm going to try and warm it up more. I usually warm it up every morning before every 25-30 minutes commute and let the vehicle warm up for about 10-15 mins before leaving. Maybe I'll just keep an eye out for anymore oil in my intake. Also I use conventional 5W30 Valvoline... I would use Mobil 1 or Castrol but they have Valvoline at my shop at it's free so I change that along with a OEM oil filter

+1 to short commutes.

I see it every winter. 1st time had me researching like crazy for a blown head gasket. It'll scare ya.

Oil on your air filter tho... Dunno about that one.

Pretty damn sure it was my PCV valve... haven't noticed anymore excess oil from what it already had so I believe that problem has been taken care, so I hope. My gas mileage seems to have gotten back to normal so I guess I just have some O2s to change soon

the crap under the cap is "normal" for these engines. i did some research & found it was from short trips but also the design of the long fill tube, causes condensation to build up under the cap & mix with the oil. even dealerships say its not an issue.

as for the 10-15 minutes of warming up... that is not good for the engine. letting it idle that long is the worst thing for an engine, especially at cold startup, best thing to do is maybe 1-3 minutes of idle then just get in & drive it. it will warm up much faster & get the oil circulated better than at idle. oil temps take a lot longer to heat up at idle compared to driving... just because the temp gauge shows hot & the heater puts out warm air doesnt mean the oil is warmed up completely.

Agree with firebirdguy, don't idle to warm up excessively, take the long way to work so that your temp gauge comes up to temp at least, then take a longer way home.

Agreed, long idle times in cold ambient temps is actually one of the best ways to accumulate moisture in the higher colder areas of the engine. Drive it for a longer trip 30-60 minutes and see what the cap looks like, should clear up just fine.
