Exhaust options

I did some research on our exhaust as well and did not change the piping at all. Our exhaust pipes downstream of the cat are actually 2.4 inches, so pretty close to 2.5 inch, changing the piping would be a waste of time. Two of the four exhaust shops I talked with said changing the piping will not even make a difference and after measuring, I believe them. The other two were trying to fleece me anyway.

As far a sounds go I don't have a device that will record audio very well so no sound clips. It is louder than stock though. Not overbearing, you can hardly hear it at idle until you hit the gas. At cruising, it does drone a little at 2000 RPMs but not nearly as much as my old Magnaflow. The sound will decrease over time as well.

It's a very deep, low rumble/growl and doesn't ever scream which is nice, I actually like being able to hear conversations in my 4Runner. Overall perfect for what I wanted. It's a performance muffler with a performance sound but doesn't say "I'm loud and annoying" like so many other trucks.

Ive been thinking of this muffler. Could you get us an exhaust sound clip?

On piping size with forced induction 3" minimum is what I have always ran. We have seen gains just disconnecting the exhaust on the dyno. Restriction with boost is not good! The stock exhaust is good for low end power giving some back pressure back. But with boost you dont want that at all.
 
I guess I'm one of those loud obnoxious exhaust guys. I enjoy the dirty raspy sound of a straight pipe. It sounds like a pissed off troll especially on start up. It doesn't have that annoying drone on the freeway either. I wouldn't be able to handle it driving 200+ miles/day. But coupled with ISR and deckplate mods, I couldn't be happier.
Built not bought.
 
Different strokes for different folks. I just prefer my exhaust to not sound like a bunch of pissed off bees in a coffee can.

I wanted to go bigger with the exhaust, I get what you mean for sure! The problem is here in California you are not allowed to touch any piping or sensors upstream of the cat. That means if I have 3 in. piping out the cat, I still have 2.4 in on the downpipe and still have a restrictive cat. That's why the muffler shops I went to were against going with bigger piping, without the ability to change anything else upstream it's a waste. Most headers are not allowed in California for that same reason.

The muffler I love though! It was a bit loud at first but quieted down a big. It has a very low tone unless I step on it. I know that it improved flow (looked at old muffler design with baffles and was smashed in a bit) but haven't really noticed much yet. I think the stock muffler flowed ok with the supercharger but I bet if you have a smaller pulley and such the difference would be even more.

Sounds pretty good. I think I might pick it up. Delete cat and install chrome tip. Let me practice on new welder.

I forget about cal emission's. We have zero restrictions as of a few years back.
