Exhaust Removal - Help!

Pardon my automotive vocabulary as I'm still getting into it all.

So I was under the rig looking at potential wiring options, when I noticed a loose pipe. Upon closer inspection it seems my exhaust pipe rusted away and has a clean break at a part of it, and is now only being held on by one connection point I can find.

The pics below are 3 different angles of the one connection point I found. Anyone know how I can remove the pipe? I'd rather take it off now before it somehow comes loose when I'm driving.

Wow how did your pre-purchase inspection miss the broken exhaust?

To remove the loose section, just pull/push the exhaust mount past the rubber isolator. The "barb" needs to slide back in through the rubber isolator

Are you trying to remove the Muffler or the down pipe from the engine?

Those guys are a bit rusty, but some rust penetrant or something like window washer fluid and a prybar/screwdriver is how I usually get the rubber isolators off.

Thanks! I've been thinking about that myself.... but there's also a time that sticks out in my head that I think.... I might have busted it myself... whoops

It appears from your video the loose piece is the tail pipe with the resonator on it, that goes from the muffler to the rear of the vehicle.

You definitely don't want to remove the muffler unless you really like LOUD exhaust noise!!

Ahhh my auto know how/vocab already bit me in the ass hah! What you described seems to be more accurate. Yes I'm wanting to take the tail pipe off at that connection point bc it's already broken off every where else. I just noticed this by chance too. I haven't noticed a difference in noise, MPG, handling, etc..

As long as the muffler is still attached the noise difference wouldn't be much if any,
but you will need to get it fixed before it will pass inspection, if they do vehicle inspections in your state.

The real concern is from carbon monoxide getting into the vehicle, so get it fixed sooner than later!!
