Exhaust System Roundup

New pic of the gibson here:

Nice looking system.

Has anyone really taken a close look at the pipes upstream? If you look where the pipes from both sides of the engine meet you will see how pinched off they are . If that area was redone I am willing to bet some horsepower would be freed up. If equal diameter piping was used right up to the junction and not pinched almost in half right where they meet then the exhaust would flow much better. I noticed the drivers side pipe necks down to a smaller diameter just before it meets the passenger side.
That section of pipes has to be the worst in the system.

I just bought a borla exhaust system and they sound perfect to me. A little bit loud in the cabin when you're going from zero to thirty mph, but when you hit fifty to ninety you won't notice the sound but from the outside, my friend told me it sounded just fine. Good quality and design... I do recommend it for those who like the sound of a little bit of sport but more on muscle sound on their exhaust...

Why does everyone complain about drone....you bought an exhaust so that it's louder and you can hear it, yet you want it to be quiet. If you don't like the drone then you should stick to stock.

Personally, I wish my Spintech had a drone. :D

I've heard nothing but good things about Spintech and plan on getting one this summer. The most surprising thing was how much HP gains come from it on the dyno despite the fact that it's only a muffler vs. alot of full exhaust systems.

What kind of model did you get and how much did you pay for it?

I also have sold quite a few of the Borla's. It looks badass with the dual tips on both sides. This pic doesn't do the justice though.

Do you sell Borla Exhaust Systems for 2nd Generation 4runners too? I could use some people's opinions on how they like the Borla on a 3.0.

thanks,
brad

Borla on a '92 T4R

I had a Borla on a '92 T4R 4x4. Although the V6 was really weak, (couldn't pass a snail going down a 45 degree angle) but the exhaust sounded sooooooo sweet, nice rumbling V8 sound. Also the deep sound of the K&N FIPK Intake doubled the effect! Gotta definitely get a Borla on my next T4R along with K&N on my next one (Or maybe a TRD exhaust and sound other cold intake system). Can't figure it out yet. Still contemplating on spacer lift on a limited with Xreas/Rear Air OR limited with other suspension lift).

I don't think they make a full system anymore for the '92.

I can get it for you then if it exists.

Call you Toyota dealer and ask them if the stock 1992 4Runner exhaust is the same part # as the 1994. If it is, then it will work :) Then let me know.

Great post.
How ever I have a small question.
In my case I really dont mind not having a chrome exhaust tip or something like that and when I bought my Runner it came with a coating of some sort in the bottom part of the car including the oem exhaust.
If I install a Exhaust system such as the magnaflow or something like that is there a way to coat that part too with the protective coating?

for Jason B of Burtman Industries

How hard is the installation if its just a direct bolt on. is there an installation instruction included?

Install is pretty easy. Anyone that has changed their own oil can do this. No welding, no cutting, just screw it on :)

Wondering if anyone can post an audio file of a V6 with any of these exhaust systems. I am thinking about adding one, but dont want my truck to sound like a poser.

nevermind,

i heard the borla, and realized if i want that sound i really need the V8. I dont like the sound the V6 gives off with aftermarket exhaust.
