Exhaust Tip Sound Change

I've got a 96 3.4 v6 that I bought not too long ago. The guy before me put a cheap, crappy aftermarket tip on it, and it has a kind of ticky, slappy, gay exhaust note to it. I'm not sure if it's because of the tip or not. If I put a different tip on it, like a Flowmaster or Magnaflow tip, would it change the sound a little bit? Not looking for a big change of course, just trying to get rid of the ticky exhaust note without going all out on a full exhaust system. Thanks in advance

Exhaust tip or muffler? Exhaust tips don't change the sound at all, it's all for looks. Muffler is what changes the sound.

A resonator tip will change your sound.

The exhaust tip only helps project the sound better. You need a muffler to change the sound.
