What kind of fuel options are there? Arriving with a full tank and some jerry cans? Is there fuel on site?

Looks like you lost the blue Blazer and that white lookin' job way in the back. That stock looking red wrangler looks like a little kid along for the ride. :D

RC is about a 4 hour drive for me. I'm over north of Pittsburgh. How much $ is it for the day?
 
Gas station mile down the road. I filled up when I got off PA turnpike as it took a full tank to just get there. I showed up with a full tank. We pretty much only drove like 10-15 miles. We only used like 1/4 tank or less in 9 hours. No fuel on site. Its $15 for year membership and then $40 for the day. The place is huge...we only explored a tiny section.

lol yea we lost those 2 and a nicer maroon jeep that got flooded. The lil jeep hung in there...got banged up a bit.

Water makes me nervous. Too many stories of electrical problems on 4runners after water crossings even with a snorkel.

In Houston, we've had some rain events in April/May that lead to flooding. I went out two weeks ago on way home through water up to the doors bottom edge. Two days later, wiring connector in valve body on transmission crapped out. No more water.
 
Rear Diff Breather Relocate Mod

Did a quick diff relocate before I went offroading the past saturday and luckily I did because it poured and lots of water crossings.

Parts:
Toyota Part # 9040451319 = Union Fitting
Toyota Part # 9093003136 = Breather Plug
6 feet of fuel line, ID 3/8", OD 1/2"
2, 1/4" 5/8" hose clamps
Teflon Tape
Zip Ties


Tools:
deep 14mm socket or wrench
deep 12mm socket or wrench
knife

How to:

Unbolt the current breather which will most likely be rusted, dirty, stuck open or closed (especially if you live in the North East) with the 14 mm.


This looks bad...maybe I should get the diff flushed?




Side by side...new one looks cheap. Might go and get a metal oem one soon. Not sure why every write up I see they say the plastic?


So I put some teflon tape around the end of the Union fitting, stuck the 3/8" hose on it and clamped it down.


Then make sure the hose doesn't go down anywhere (keep it going up). Now just start running it up to the gas tank door.








Take rubber boot out of gas tank door. The pin that pops the door open twists and pops out. There will be thin metal clips around the outside metal and inside metal that holds the rubber onto the truck.



Run the hose up and through and you will have a bit extra sticking out if you got 6 feet.


I rushed here because it was the night before I was going offroading, I will get back to it and clean it up. I basically cut a hole in the rubber, could not get the smaller inner ring to sit right with the hose now next to the gas spout. Clamp the Breather plug on the end of the hose and put everything back together.
 
After doing this mod. I wish I fed the hose down first instead of feeding it up the gas tank last.

Hey did you ever actually measure your lift? I'm curious as I'm trying to figure out my exact numbers and whether I can add up any height without any major changes.

the suspension online says 2.5-3" plus tires are a lil bigger. I never really measured the before and after. Just dont do a body lift.
 
Damage Report from wheeling Saturday.

Besides a few dents and scrapes underneath...

When I switch to 4Hi, the 4Lo light comes on and beeps. I tried the reverse trick and a few other things at lunch and it seemed to go back to 2WD. Left work and it seems to be back in 4Hi.

Going to really clean every thing up tomorrow and hopefully try to figure out whats wrong. Hopefully its not bad to drive like this. I don't drive far to work.

Your thread reminded me I have to do the diff breather mod as well. These are some good shots, and that tacoma with the green bead lock wheels looks sick. Wish I could have joined! Its all good though, we'll get a group together for late august, hope you fix that 4Hi issue.

I would check the actuator itself. It was super muddy up and rainy up there that weekend (still need to clean mine lol) and sometimes mud and other crap caked up under there can cause problems. Might not solve the problem, but worth a try.

Just got it cleaned up underneath and checked all the plugs and seemed to fix the problem. After the wash, I did exactly how the Instructions are on the Visor and tested each drive and it seemed to go back in 2WD.

steering is stiff when turning the wheel and the brakes are stiff.

Think i figured out what it is...ordering a vacuum check valve to see if that fixes the issue.

So I haven't been on here in a while...figured out the steering being stiff when turning issue.

The lower intermediate shaft on the steering column was seizing at the U-joint?
Here is a pic of what was replaced from a guy on tacoma world.

I didn't get to see the old one, wish they kept it so I could have gotten a picture of it for you. I needed to get to work asap so I took it to a mechanic. Not sure how it broke or if it's a common issue?

pass rear caliper got stuck and wore down only 1 side of the pad.

Replaced the the rear calipers and pads to 2010 4Runner and new 2003 4Runner rotors.
The thing stops amazing! I wish I replaced these when I did the front ones to 2010 a year ago. It felt a bit softer with 2010 front and 2003 rears.

Love your build. I subscribed, I own an '06 SR5 in silver and we have similar tastes with your wheels, and you've got some great info on here on how you did things (diff breather relocation to name one!)
