Experience with used engine sources

Looking to replace a 3.4L w/ 355K+ miles in a 97 with a used engine. Anyone have any experience with places like Gotengines.com, SWengines.com, engineandtransmissionworld.com (these 3 appear to be the same company) or LKQonline.com? I have also checked a few junkyards around the country and just trying to find a reasonable source. Thanks in advance.

No matter what, do a compression check. It is easy and simple. the only way to know whether it is bad or not. You can buy a compression test kit from Harbor Freight tools for like $25 or less, not sure about the price.

Also a VERY good visual inspection to look for any oil/coolant drips, cracks etc.

Check motor oil for any sort of contamination. Look under the oil filler cap to see sludge.

I had mine rebuilt because I've had it since new & changed to oil every 3000.
