ok so to start this off, i dont mean to bash anyone or toytec them selfs as they only marketing the product, but good f*cking lord. dylan yes you need to chew someones ass out at the company that makes these for you guys... f*ck man im really pissed off right now, words cant even discribe how angry i am... i now have a 4runner that is of no use to me, just sitting in my driveway with a giant puddle of brake fluid on the ground under it. first off is the small mear minor issue that i talk to dylan about, ok thats getting fixed cool, im ok with that. -other than the fact of, how many other people out there are running these lines without the right clips in, and have lose lines that are just rattling around inside the brackets and wearing down on the end fittings... at some point they will wear thought and cause a leak. not cool, and a law suit waiting to happen. secondly the colars on the fittings are not only not the same design they are NOT the same size. the ones being made for toytec are smaller, which allow them to slip through the holes in the bracket if turned the right way. -the factory oval hole is just big enough that the "hex" head on these aftermarket ones will slip through not allowing for a snug tight fit. -so far i am only speaking of the front brake lines, and these issues while annoying as they are can be dealt with and remedied.
what really fried me was when i went to instal the rear one... ok sure its a PITA to get off, and im sure thats where part of this rant is coming from, is im a little heated about that one. but there is a C-clip on the factory line(i have a 97 so only a single line for the rears) at the top, and on the aftermarket one there is no place for this C-clip to clip into, not only that, but the opening/hole in the bracket is so large the, entire line with fit through with ease! there is no way to secure the rear line to the hanger with out it rattling around in there. i tried to put in some washers but the shifted as i was tightening down my line and have not pinched over my hard line trying to get the upper fitting tight. everything shifted on me because there is no way to lock down the line and keep it from moving... its too late to get a line from anyone today, and i have to be to work in the morning, -not going to happen cause i have no vehicle. my truck is down right now cause the wife and i decided to take insurance off and not register it this year cause we would have to have smogged it and $$$ was tight so we let it pass this year...
again im more pissed at this company who is making these and saying that they are a direct replacement for our trucks when clearly they are not. i have done more than my fair share of brake, air, hydraulic, trans ect lines from simple passenger cars to race cars, to heavy industrial equipment to know what im doing when it comes installing lines whether they be high end super high pressure to just a standard water line for rear heat... this is just wow... i will have to admit im a little disappointed in toytec for not having caught some of these issues before...
has anyone else had issues with their steel braided brake lines, or am i kinda out here on my own. -and who if you(toytec) dont mind me asking is making your lines... i wouldnt mind talking with someone over there about the quality control, and R&D of the applications...
