Extended sway bar links

What r u guys doing to extend sway bar links. I've done alot of research on here and no one has a real good awnser or shows how they do it. Is there another toyota I can buy them off of and use or do u just extend factory ones?

And the bushing kit is it just the stock 4Runner energy suspension kit??

[MENTION=98153]MStudt[/MENTION] makes extended disconnects front and rear. Contact him. You can run 2nd Gen 4runner rear links and are about 1" longer. I believe the fronts from 2nd gen may work also but never tried so dont quote me on that. Only other person making disconnects are wabfab. To me almost 2 months to get my fronts from them and they are known for bad customer service.

Built my own. Used the generic 4 inch kit from Autozone and done 1200lb working load galvanized eye bolts from Lowes. Worked great, handles great, cost me maybe 40 bucks.

If you go that route do NOT use stainless, and I can't emphasize that enough. Stainless isn't the strongest, it stretches, and it's more expensive than a stronger Grade 8 or Grade 9.

Metric stuff will also be a lot more expensive, and 7/16 is only a fraction smaller than 12mm. Make sure that the race has some kind of self lubricating lining to keep them from squeaking too.

[MENTION=98153]MStudt[/MENTION] You can run 2nd Gen 4runner rear links and are about 1" longer.

I know I use 2nd gen rear links on the rear of mine, and I believe I have them no the front too. You should be able to get away with using the rear links from a 3rd gen on the front, if you want extended as they are a bit longer.

I never disconnect my sway bar in the rear. For the front, I just take the links out completely and zip tie the sway bar to the frame so it doesn't hang down... takes 10 minutes or less and not a huge deal since I only offroad 1-2x a month.

I extended mine in the rear by 1/2 an inch. Took about half an hour and works great. There's more detail on page 1 out 2 of my build thread.

McMaster-Carr These are what I used but they were not as expensive back when I bought them . The stainless rod and hardware was something I had on hand so I used it. So far it's held up and it does get stressed as I never disconnect . If I ever break one I'll use some 10.9 rod instead as the galling issues alone make the stainless not worth it.

I did lots of searching on this just about a month ago, if you do a 2 inch lift, there is a pretty straight forward option.

2nd gen 4runner rear sway bar links, on the front of the 3rd gen
3rd gen front sway bar links, installed on the rear

Those have some pretty darn close measurements to do exactly the right extension.

Agreed - this is what i went with as well. gives about 1" longer on both front and back.
