i had a 2004 4runner limited
and I must of got close to 20,000 worth of benefit from the 6 yr 100k warranty. with 2 days and 146 miles left, I got over 4k worth of work for free. I hold the record at my dealer for cutting it the closest.
ever since I have bought a warranty, even if I never use it again, I made up for it on my 04. Best money I ever spent!

What the hell did you have done for 20k in under 100k miles?

the calipers got replaced every 10k after the initial brake job, there was stuff with the transfer case and both differentials as well as the trans. it was not unusual to have 3-5k worth of free stuff done at a 15k service.
the air conditioning went as did the charging system, that is all that comes to mind, but I know there was a lot more done to it. except for the brakes, each time it was something different

That's very surprising. During the last 150k combined miles in my 4th and 5th gens I'd have zero issues and spent zero on repairs (not counting normal wear items).

I cannot agree with you more, including my current t4r, I have owned 6 Toyotas but the 04 was the only one to have anything wrong. I know for that year (if not more) the calipers had issues, but everything else?

Side note: checked the Toyota Financial Services website and it suggests that I could only get a VSA on a used T4R at the time of purchase? True?
