Decided to go the extreme route (after a Jeep that left my wallet with a bad taste in it's mouth) and get a 10yr/125k coverage on my SR5. Jerry was amazing to work with.
While I agree it's not for everyone, If you've made the decision to purchase additional coverage you can't go wrong with Jerry.

I believe to qualify for Toyota's Platinum zero deductible plan, the car must be within it's original 36k/3yr warranty. Then you decide if you want to put down for any additional coverage.
Toyota does offer a CPO plat zero plan, but I THINK you have to negotiate for it during your purchase. So I think your only options are to go third party coverage, talk to your insurance to see if they have anything, or (if you bought from a Toyota dealership) the place of purchase.

I've never dealt with Jerry but I heard he had decent deals back in the day. Pretty sure my contact could beat his deals

This is true, for the Toyota VSA you must still be within your factory warranty period.
Reading this thread makes me sad.
I just bought a 2015 SR5P and the factory comprehensive expires on February 2. It is a CPO and the finance manager at the dealership quoted me ~$2500 for the 5 year/120000KM (75k miles) platinum plan (two years past factory). I still have 2 years and 60000KM (37k miles) remaining on the power train warranty.
Based on the (admittedly limited) research I have done I have learned two things:
This made it pretty easy to decline the coverage. The manager didn't let it go though, she tried to scare my into it by telling me that if the Nav went it would cost $8500 to repair. Maybe that is their cost but I think I could put an aftermarket unit in for a fraction of that.
I did have a 700KM drive home from the dealer yesterday and the radio randomly rebooted a couple of times... After a mini-freakout and some quick googling it looks like this is a common issue and nothing to worry about. Hopefully...

@gamster5 tbh I didn't do too much internet shopping around (and I really should have, oh well) I just compared them to my local dealerships.
Regardless of who you decide to go with it's hilariously sad how drastic the prices plummet when you mention some external source. Especially when it's all for the same services/packages.

It is pretty bad. Why don't they just have set pricing across the board. They make WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY to much money on people. It really should be criminal. They pray on people and it makes me sad as well.

Dealerships don't exist to save people money; despite what they'd like you to think.
Just gotta pick the business that's going to be ever slightly more gentle when they take you to the bank and bend you over.

2yr Warranty for 2013 w/ 84k Miles
We recently picked up a really clean 2013 4Runner with about 84k miles on it. We got it from a Ford dealership and after the dust settled we came out of there with a 2yr / 24k Mile Warranty that appears to have cost me about $1500 and only covers engine & transmission. So I bought the 4Runner for my wife b/c I drive an older Land Cruiser and I'm used to Toyota longevity and reliability; I also do most of the maintenance and repairs myself. I do understand these are two very different vehicles however I'm thinking the $1500 spent on this was not smart. You can cancel the policy within 30 days and get fully refunded so I'm thinking about going that route. I never buy these warranties but dealerships are really, really good at scaring your spouse into this kind of piece of mind.
Just wanted to poll the group to see what you all thought. Thanks!
