I’’m on Long Island. New England is a pretty broad spectrum, could you be a little more specific? Do you have any information on the dealership where you purchased your platinum warranty?

If you do a little research you can buy a platinum extended warranty through a guy out of a New England toyota dealer. Got quoted 6yr/100k for $895 or 7yr/100k for $1025.

I live on Long Island. You state New England dealerships have good deals, but New England’s a pretty large area to research dealerships. Could you please provide the name and contact information for the dealership that you used to purchase your platinum warranty? Thanks!

Most of the extended warranty's offered by the dealership are actually underwritten by a third party. I just bought a new trail and I am going to let my factory one run out than pick up an extended one from that third party directly. Like you said, any repair can add up in a hurry and its nice having that piece of mind, especially with some of the electronics on the Limited.

I recently bought a used 2016 Trail. Warranty expired. Do you know if there's a 3rd party plan available, and if so do you have a recommendation? I'm concerned about electronics, too. Thanks,

I don't have any contacts for 3rd party warranties but I do know there are some out there. Good luck in finding one that fits for you.

Did you buy it from a dealer? If so I would contact them to see who the use. If they cant help you I would go to the better business bureau and see which "used car warranty" company has the best track record.

I'm going to be buying a 2019 Limited this week.

I plan to keep the car at least 10 years and do around 7000 miles a year so I thought a 10 year, 80000 warranty should be fine.

Is there any advantage to getting this when I buy of wait until closer to the end of the original factory warranty?

I am sure this was brought up previously but always read the fine print of an extended warranty if you intend to modify the vehicle. Some modifications (for example a lift) can allow for a warranty company to void coverage on specific or all claims.

Also, some require all documentation that factory recommended service took place in the appropriate mile intervals. One missed service requirement could result in voided coverage.

I learned the hard way regarding the above.

Good to know on the mods. I’m not planning that and only plan on lighting upgrades. I always service at the dealer, so that should be covered.

I ended up getting the Toyota Platinum 10yr, 100,000 mile for $1470. Perhaps I could have got it a bit less but it seemed reasonable.

Fully agree. No need. I've got a 13 and since mine expired I haven't even thought twice about it. Until now. And will quickly forget. Part of the reason I bought this thing in the first place. Spend that $ to pay it off if not done yet.
