Thank you gamester5 you saved me a ton. My local dealer wanted $1900 for 7yr 100k. I called Eddie with your info you gave me and got the same warranty a Toyota extra care platinum 0 deductible 7yr 100k for $820 no tax . Unbelievable what these dealers will charge you.

We recently purchased a new 2010 4Runner SR5, the dealer gave us $2000 off MSRP ($34,817) and $7000 for our 04 Tundra with 195K on it. A good deal I believe. We were then convinced to purchase an extended warranty, we weren't planning on getting one. We put 30K a year on our vehicle and are thinking with that kind of mileage it wouldn't hurt even though publications such as Consumer Reports say they're not needed if the vehicle has a good reliability record which of course the 4Runner has. We purchased one for our Tundra but never had to use it (big surprise!), we got a 4 yr / 125K platinum Toyota warranty for $1360 with no deductible for the 4Runner and have 30 days to cancel it. Part of me says to cancel it thinking it was the dealers way of getting some $ back but part of me says to keep it considering how many miles we put on our vehicle each year.

I would appreciate your thoughts, good or bad.

Should I get 7/75 or 8/75, 9/100 or 10/100?

Just wanted to say thanks again, without your info I couldn't have gotten nearly the price I got. Less than half of the previously quoted prices from my local dealer.

To help others,
I will say that the "end of the month" push for better sales numbers is a real thing and can definitely help out the last few days of the month. Their tunes changed quickly from when I first contacted several local ones 3 weeks back and they mention the large drop in quoted rates due to the above reasoning without me even asking.
Also, don't be afraid to ask for specific discounts at that time and whether it's the Toyota-backed coverage or their own dealer's third-party version that can limit you to $0 deductible at only that specific dealership. Some dealers will even specifically tell you they are not going to ask for proof when you affirm to certain discounts.... :wink2:
