Extended Warranty

Looking for updated info for a 2018 ORP 34,000 mi still within factory warranty. Tried to pm you but doesn't appear to have been sent. Thanks!

Hoping to get some present day feedback on this!

Just purchased a 2020 ORP (certified pr-owned from Toyota) and got upsold on the extended warranty which now goes for $2,854 with extended coverage until 1/2029 or 175K miles, which ever comes first: Certified Used Toyota Vehicles | Pre-Owned Cars, Trucks, SUVs & Hybrids

Opted in for the 0% financing and can opt out at any time. So the question is, is it worth it in 2021? My 2020 is pretty young 17K miles (+ still ~1 year left of original warranty) and knowing Toyota's reliability it seems like this is likely not worth it. Not planning major mods but do want to push it a bit offroading.

At this point I can fully pull out so just wondering if this is something I really need down the line, on the off chance any electrical failures... and newer models certainly have more bells and whistles than before, so hoping y'all can advise!
 
I just wanted to thank [MENTION=108754]gamester5[/MENTION] again for hooking it up with the Toyota contact. I finally pulled the trigger on purchasing a warranty - price was exactly as quoted, and the person I dealt with was very professional. I paid for the warranty contract on a Saturday and had the official warranty paperwork direct from Toyota sent to me 1 week later. What I bought was 50% cheaper than what was quoted to me by the dealership that sold me my 4runner.

This sounds like a 3rd party warranty. 175k mileage would not be something Toyota would offer.

After reading the second half of this thread, I’m seeing I got took to the cleaners on my platinum service agreement. Can you quote me for an 8 year 75k warranty (to compare to what I bought) and a 10 year 100k warranty (to see what I am in for if I buy what I actually want)? Luckily I am still in my 60 day cancellation window. 2021 ORP.

Is there a cost advantage or other advantage to purchasing the Toyota extended warranty sooner rather than later i.e. within the first 6 months of new ownership or wait and purchase around month 34, 35, or 36? Do the Toyota Extended warranties state exactly what is not covered? I purchased my new 2021 TRD ORP on November 26, 2020. Being newly retired after only 4 months of ownership I have racked up a whopping 1,359 miles. With all the electronics and TSS I am for the first time in 36 years of owning Toyotas considering a Toyota Extended warranty so I am trying to get educated on them. I read Platinum, etc. but don't really understand the coverage differences as well as cost differences. I do keep my 4Runners for a long time but even before retirement I didn't put a lot of miles on. I recently sold my 2005 Limited and it only had 150,000 miles on it. Thanks for any feedback / insights.

Cost would be the same and coverage mileage and time frame would be the same if purchased now or before 36,000 miles or 3 years from date it drove off the lot. The paperwork shows what is covered and that can be obtained from the source. Platinum is the top level and has no deductible.

Thing is, these deals can dry up at a moments notice. My first source I had about 5 years ago DOUBLED the price over night, so I had to find a new source.

Sounds like you don't put too many miles on vehicles so I would go with longer term vs more miles.
