Extending battery cables for 31M

Not all applications require the cables be extended. Based on the photo of the battery it appears the terminals are in an optimal position. Some customers decide to bend the tabs on the OEM cables to get a little extra length. Here is a shot of a customer that did that change:

Slee Offroad Offers some mil-spec terminals with extensions. If you call/email them you can order, they're $49.

The OEM Positive battery cable will unbolt from the stock terminal, the negative side will need to be cut and crimped with a new lug and ground strap.

Came here to reference this as well. You'll get a cleaner installation without having to bend your OEM terminals or re-run new wiring which is a PITA. I used these on my re-wire:

Group 31 Connectors

I have a set of the Slee connectors arriving today and should have them in tonight. I friend sent me a pic of his 200 Series and it appears the same as the 4Runner. This pic is the 200 Series with the Slee connectors.

I just made extension cables and bolted them to the factory connector

Getting battery with terminals on the correct side is the easiest solution, but I couldn't find any cheap batteries with that setup.

Those sleep connectors look really g9od for posts in the center, I'll probably do that next battery

FYI there is nothing wrong with using the threaded posts that are standard on all the 31M's I have seen.
Personally I's rather attach to those rather than the normal posts. I just can't seem to keep those standard post connections tight.

The reason i used the standard automotive post is that if something happened to my battery in the field or on a road trip I wanted to be able to replace it with the first battery I could get and that will probably have an automotive posts. I know they make post converter things but I couldn't find anything to confirm they were okay to use for the full starting load.

I recall using a converter that made it so the threaded posts were converted to accept the factory clamp.

I’ll have to look to see what it was called.

I have these on order. Can [MENTION=98618]ZOMBRNR[/MENTION] or anyone explain the bit I quoted above in any more detail? Why will it need to be cut exactly? Thanks!

So using the stud converters allows for using the factory battery clamps/connectors without any type of extension?
This seems to be the easiest, as well as one of cheapest, way of connecting to group 31 battery.

It depends on which battery you have and the terminal locations. I got the stud convertors for my X2Power battery and they're still too far away.

For you guys running that Slee battery connector extension: anybody made a cover for the positive terminal? That's a lot of open area exposed to get grounded out.
