Eyecandy or sore eyes

I bought this rig from Pawzitiv. Arie is a great guy; very knowledgeable and pays very close attention to detail. I get about as many looks as somebody in a Ferrari. Being a Dutchmen, I love the orange theme. The truck is extremely capable and when she does get stuck, I have about every piece of recovery gear imaginable (everything came with the rig). I only hope to do Arie proud; his biggest worry was that it wouldn't be put to good use and taken care of. I still find myself wondering why and how he parted with it.

Ha his was one of the first rigs I ever looked at for ideas and being a Dutchman as well immediately liked the Oranje and Black theme going and will still be something I will eventually do to my own 4R.

Congratz and welcome!...you got some sweet truck...I was going to help him with some off road trailer designs to match the truck, so if you decide to go that route let me know!

Ok here are some pictures. The one with Ford Ranger in the background is quite close to my house (new development). I came across a guy who was hopelessly stuck in the muskeg (if you don't know what this is, look it up, it's horrible stuff!). A bobcat and a bulldozer both tried getting him out - they both failed and almost got themselves stuck. I showed up and took me about 30 minutes to successfully get him out. I used a combination of my winch and Maxtrax (these things are pricey but awesome).

The next pictures are of an unplanned trip to the Syncrude river diversion (I live in Fort McMurray - home of the oil sands:canada. I made a couple river crossings, went up and down some pretty steep hills and got stuck in a mud hole. I was lucky to have a tree about 75 feet away to winch off of. Locking the rear diff didn't get me out of that one. On this little outing, i quickly realized how important the skid plates were - definitely put more then a few gouges in the nice orange powder coat job. I also tried using the crawl control for the first time and quickly stopped because of all the weird noise. After reading some posts here, i quickly realized that all the noise is actually normal. Having said that, going up and down those steep hills was no problem at all in 4Lo.

Oh, if you think that my attire (ralph laren polo and boat shoes) is not appropriate for offroading - it isn't! Like i said, it was a spur of the moment decision so i didn't bother changing!

I had to include the typical poser shot as well. I included another picture showing the usefullness of the full length Baja rack (i probably should have checked the weight limit before :S)
