^^^^ Hey, thanks for this, that is a great phone mount.
Problem for me is I rarely get in the Runner without a cup of coffee, especially this time of year. With the Gen 5 configuration I can't spare a cup holder.
Leaning toward the Proclip mounted low, to the right of the gear shift. I don't need to look at the phone that much, don't like any block to the vent, and charging would mean a dangling cord down to the console.
Appreciate the response, nonetheless.

I've been using a vent mount for about 2 years now and it works great, never had any issues with it blocking airflow or falling off.

^^^^ For sure, I know they're popular, kinda neat, but with CarPlay there really isn't much need for me to have it near eye level. Plus, I don't like the dangling cord.
Now, maybe I'll get the lower mount and someone here will make a good case for the higher position, with this brand I can switch the part out, and get a refund if within 30 days.

I got the Proclip mount with the MagSafe option. If you watch their installation video you get a clearer idea of what you are buying.
Having used a cupholder mount in my other vehicle, I was leery of dealing with the hassle. It costs you a cupholder, which can be a hassle. I don't like keeping my drinks-- coffee or whatever-- in the door pocket.
The Proclip seems good to me in that 1) I don't need my phone in my field of vision while driving. I just don't want it on the seat or resting precariously on the center console where it can slide off onto the floor. Likewise I prefer not to have it *in* the center console. 2) it keeps my cupholders open for cups. 3) it mounts without drilling and doesn't clamp on to vents (I don't like that).
Great time to buy one seeing as how they have been discounting for holiday sales.

Bought a relative a the high mount version from Pro-Clip and they love it for the past several years. I have several diff Pro-Clip mounts in the family fleet. I agree with not wasting a cupholder or blocking a vent. My compromise for one vehicle was to get their dashboard-over-the-vent version for the passenger side. Down low is an ok place if you dont have small two-legged or 4-legged friends wandering the interior. GLWP

I'm very happy with my ProClip mount, I have a wireless charger mounted to it and it works great
I see I’m late to the game as you’ve already placed your order, though for anyone else looking for options I’m really happy with this bendable mount- it attaches to a small piece of Velcro I’ve placed on the flat cutout where the clock is, and I have it positioned so the phone sits basically over the hazards button between the middle vents, very unobtrusively and following the dash contours, unlike the typical vent mounts that stick out like a sore thumb. I've been through a lot of holders and settled on this one. I also have their long arm. I went with the non charging MagSafe mount. Solid hold on road and on the trails and fire roads I've been on. Long arm places the mount to the left of the center stack clear of the radio, vents, controls, and steering wheel. Not cheap but over the years I've found it cheaper to buy once cry once

This looks like a great solution. I have a RAM mounts configuration for both a phone and iPad, but had Offroam been an option when I did my build, I would have strongly considered it.

Because of this thread, I went with the OFFROAM mount as well. I am very happy with it and recommend it highly.
