Factory Alarm Help 2005 Limited

Hi All,

I recently purchased an 05 limited 2 weeks ago and noticed that there is a red dot to the left of the driver and below the dash. I've read everything I could get my hands on and I believe it's not enabled. It has never flashed before. I even locked the car with the windows down and tried to open from the inside and the panic didn't go off.

I'm curious if there's a way for me to reset this without having to take apart the dash? If so any help is greatly appreciated it. I'm 99% sure its a factory installed alarm. my FOB has a toyota sign on it and says FCC ID: HYO12BBX

Thanks all for the help. If there is a link someone can point me to I'd appreciate it, it seems like more people have the opposite problem than I do though.

Can you take a picture of it?

Having the limited, you SHOULD have the Toyota theft deterrent system installed, not just the keyless door lock system.

The theft deterrent module is located above the glove box if you want to check it out. Here's a picture of mine. If you have the theft deterrent system, you can actually add sensors to it. I added a glass break and shock sensor to mine.

That's probably an aftermarket alarm system installed at the port or dealer. The factory "theft deterrent" system uses the factory security lamp located in the HVAC control unit.

Many dealers/ports install these before selling the vehicle, it's little more than a cheap alarm system so they can justify charging the customer more money.
