Factory coating on aluminum parts

Is there a factory coating on aluminum parts to prevent corrosion? I’m getting ready to bead blast my Intake and I am wondering if it’s just bare aluminum or is it painted or what?

there is no coating on them

I bead blasted my valve covers and lower intake before I did a engine rebuild. pressure washed them and cleaned the crap out of them after the bead blasting. long story short I did not get some of the blasting media out from someplace and it destroyed my engine. I was 100% sure I had all the blasting media off of those parts.

if your talking the top most air intakes Toyota calls them TANK, INTAKE AIR SURGE, CONNECTOR, INTAKE AIR

I just would not do it, I will never do it again. yes I still clean things off as well as I can but no more media blasting for any engine parts for me thank you.

learnt my lesson.

you still can paint things without media blasting.

Thanks for the info. All my intake parts have been jet cleaned which means there is a lot of sodium hydroxide residue on everything. Just trying to figure out a plan of attack. I do wash and flush with hot soapy water and then acetone bath everything prior to assembly. But it’s getting close to when I think I’ll be getting me engine block back. I miss my 4Runner. It’s time to get this thing on the road again.

I think I’m going to bead blast everything anyway. I have the ability to pressure flush the lower intake to passages. The only real problem I see is getting the beads into the vacuum ports in the injector cavity. And I plan on plugging the lower portion of the injector holes as well as capping the two vacuum nipples that go to the injector holes

This is how nasty it looks. I could wash it and get the caustic residue off. At least all the carbon is gone.

Also here is a picture of the vacuum passage in the injector cavity.

I have yellow plugs to push into the injector holes to keep the bead blasting media out of the passages. It’s all good.
