Factory jack will not work for 2"+lift

My 2010 4runner has 2.5" lift. I just realized it does not have enough height when I tried to use the factory jack (with a floor jack and jack stands) to rotate the tires in the weekend.

My solution is that a 4x4 wood block wiil be always in the truck.

It's a good thing you realized this before you had a flat. Maybe it's time to consider a taller jack or a high lift jack for off-road situations?

I once had an '85 Ford Ranger with a stock scissor jack that would not fit under the car when the tire was flat. I couldn't change a flat one day and had to buy another jack that collapsed lower. I bought a cylinder hydraulic jack. I still have that jack and take it 4 wheeling.

are you jacking from the frame? makes me pnder.... I have an AEV jack base left over from my JKU... wonder if the Yota OEM Jack will work on it

Yes. I used a 4x4 wood block and that worked.

That plastic thing looks nice but I don't think it worths $55.

it is nice and works well.... they werent $55 when I bought mine.... but $55 is a small price to pay for a stable option if you don't want to 1. carry a hi lift and/or 2 don't have a strong enough jack point for the hi lift

Get a 2x8 and chop it up to 8x8x2 keep 3 or 4 in the back. Can be used for all kinds of stuff...

Hmm.. Ive used the factory jack on my 2nd gen tacoma with 3" lift and 315/75r16s.. and it worked, but only if i positioned the jack under the lower control arm in front and the pumpkin/axle in the rear. I assume the same would go for a 4runner, just cant go off the frame.

I like this better - wider - better balance.

Not to get off course, but I use stacks of 2x12 on all 4 tires to elevate an entire vehicle when I need better clearance to get underneath. Doesn't work for all situations, but quite a few that I need it to.

I know I'm resurrecting but it was never confirmed if this jack base would work with the stock jack.

So what is the verdict?

Asking bc the car wash place stole my block of pressure treated 6x6 :-(

I just found this site today when I was trying to figure out a jack solution. I don't really want a hi lift due to them being a bit sketchy in my opinion.

The factory jack works with most lifts. You just need to position in properly. And that is not under the frame rail.

Hi-lift jacks should only be used as a last resort. The stock jack should work as long as you jack off the rear axle or lower control arms like someone mentioned earlier.
