Ive read several threads on tightening the throttle and accelerator cables. My 97 has some slack in the gas pedal before it gives any throttle and I think it may need adjusted. I found a spec on the throttle cable. (1mm of the black plastic tip showing out of the cable) but no spec on the accelerator cable. Do I just snug it up? I dont want to change my idle. What about the cruise cable? It looks pretty loose on my throttle body.
Factory settings for accelerator cable adjustment?

I just tightened mine to get the slack out of it. However, mine had 200,000 on it and the cable was stretched so I couldn't tighten it up enough. So, I got a split weight for fishing and put it on the end where it attaches to the gas pedal, then I was able to adjust so there wasn't any slack. Idle will not be effected unless you tighten it to the point that it is starting to open the throttle blade.
Got everything adjusted last night. I got the accelerater cable adjusted as much as I could. There still is a very small amount of slack, either my cable has stretched a lot or my pedal linkage is bent. However, what a major difference! So much better throttle response. I adjusted the kickdown cable as well but may back it off just a hair, im going to drive it a while and see if I think the transmission is kicking down like I want it too. It seemed pretty quick to downshift last night when I was driving it. I didnt adjust the cruise cable much since it seemed to be working fine. It does look pretty loose still.
