Factory Stereo/Nav Value?

Anyone know what this factory head unit is worth? It's the stock stereo/nav system and the complete plastic housing/facade from a 2012 SR5 (brand new). It has bluetooth, sat radio, back up camera... everything. I can't find anyone selling them nor can I find the part listed on any parts suppliers website. Put simply, i'm not enthralled with it and am thinking of selling it and getting an aftermarket stereo nav put in it's place. Seems like these are really hard to find and quite pricey if you try to go through the dealer from what i read on previous threads.

Brand new, they are 5k to 6k.
Used, I don't know. But you can't just sell it to anyone, as they would need to have to correct wiring harness.

Your Nav looks really different from mine. I have the Premium sound with the Nav and separate JBL amp and no one wants to buy it unless they are replacing the exact same model. The wiring harnesses and interaction between all of the ECMs, Multi Media doo hickie and separate amp is mind boggling.

Yours is probably more swappable but I still imagine it won't be worth it for any one to buy it to try it. As a direct replacement, worth up to $1,000. As an experiment, maybe $100?

I am in Maryland, if it is the Entune radio, let me know if you want to sell it and how much.

Yes it's the entune radio, nav, sat radio, apps, uses your phone's data to use bing and such. I am interested in selling it but I'm stilling hearing ranges from $100 to $5,000 so let me call the dealer see what they go for new. I'll probably sell it for about half. If you'd like to make an offer PM me.

Super helpful. Have you considered starting an "ask crunch" write in column?

crunchcity is right. Don't be an ass because it is immaterial what they go for new. The price should be what the market will pay for it. Personally I have one and if mine broke I would maybe give you $200 for yours as a replacement if I needed it, just for ease of installation. If you wanted any more than that I would just buy an aftermarket one that would be much better for $500 or so.

So, to me it's worth a max of $200. If someone wanted it that did not have the Entune system already wired up it might only be worth $100 to them. You might find someone who absolutely loves it and get $500 but I doubt it. Good luck.

Wasn't trying to be smartass, just that taking new dealer cost and basing your price on a percentage of that isn't necessarily going to be accurate to what you'll get for it.

Greg, have you been mountain biking recently.. If not, you should to let out some of this tension :hiding:

Obviously due to the nature of the product there is a very finite market for the thing which is why i opened the thread to begin with. There is little to no info out there for people who might be buying or selling one. Really it's down to Gen 5 4runner owners who didn't want to spend on the upgrade at the dealer or want to replace their broken unit, and most are probably still covered under warranty. That's about it.

I think the most reasonable number i've heard is something just under $1,000. I disagree that you can get something much better for $500. Truly comparable NAV head units i've been looking at are closer to $900 not including wiring harness, dash replacement, installation, sat receiver, steering wheel control adapters, etc. Also, the fit, finish and quality of the dual din dash replacement option is quite crappy imo.

If the market does turn out to put a $200 tag on it I certainly wouldn't sell it for that. Just not worth it.

cheers,

I will gladly rip out my 2013 Entune headunit (same pictured above) to any dofuss willing to give me $1000 for it.

I can have it out in 20 min and willing to meet right now !

Don't think you were being a smart ass. Think you are 100% correct. It's like a "collectable". It's worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it...

Count me in as well!! I have the same unit in my 2012 limited and I will take it out and ship it for 500 Now there are 3 of them available. Its true it is limited to 5th gen runners only that I know of and not very many takers and I for one do not blame anyone.

Seems to me like you asked a question, shot down the answers you did not like, and then provided your own answer... You probably could have saved some effort and just posted it for $900 in the For Sale thread and called everyone else stupid.

If you think it's $900, post it for $900 and see what offers you get. You're not required to accept any offers, you know.

How much it's worth actually depends on what it works with and if the connectors match up!:juggle:
There are currently 5 different stereo systems in 5th Gens that I know of and we haven't seen a 5th Gen 4Runner yet that you could swap one HU for another in the last 3 1/2 years.......and many have asked and many have looked into it.

They don't make universal one size fits all wiring harnesses for these trucks and that's where we run into a conundrum! How to rewire one to make it work when the connector plugs are completely different. Nobody has gone to that much trouble as we do have the wiring diagrams but no idea how/where to get the plug connectors that are needed and run new wires. Surely nobody is going to cut theirs off their truck and give them to you with the HU even if they could as the wires are part of a big azz wire harness that runs throughout the whole truck and these needed stereo wires are just one branch off of it.

I highly doubt the Entune HU which has nav, so a seperate GPS antenna that the Standard HU does not have will swap with anything but another Entune. When somebody post a pic of the back of the Entune we will know more and MAYBE the GPS antenna can be added to the standard stereo if the rest of the plugs match up and if the person selling the Entune includes the GPS antenna and wires for it with the sale.

Here is the backs of the HU's of 3 of them and you can see where the plug in connectors go and that they DO NOT match up.If the harness doesn't fit you must acquit.:lock1:
The other pic of the 5 besides the Entune that is missing here is the baseline SR5 HU that comes on SR5's without the Premium or Convenience package and doesn't even have USB. Somebody post a pic of that and the Entune backs and I'll add them for future reference as this comes up about every 3-4 months.:spider:

So the real question is "how much is it worth if it only fits in another 5th Gen that already has Entune which was just introduced last year?"Not much..... unless somebody with Entune already wants to buy it as a back up unit in case theirs craps out after the warranty is up!
