Factory Warranty Mileage Question

On a new vehicle, if the dealership has put a few thousand miles on it as a managers vehicle but it has never been registered, am I correct that this mileage would not be included in your 36,000 mile warranty? i.e. the mileage put on by the dealer would be added to the 36,000 miles for your warranty mileage end point.

And, if you purchase an extended Toyota warranty, it would be calculated similarly?

I think the warranty they are selling depends on the terms, but i would think the factory warranty would include those and still end at the normal mileage

a family member purchased a T4R limited 2008 with 8500 miles was a dealership unregistered vehicle. it did not include the 8500 miles .. got the full 36K mile warranty and also on the other warranty over that 3 yrs.

never had any warranty work required ............

Well I found my own answer. From Toyota's website:

The warranty period begins on the vehicle's in-service date, which is the first date the vehicle is either delivered to an ultimate purchaser, leased, or used as a company car or demonstrator.

yep, warranty starts when it is purchased by the first owner. If it had 8500 miles I assume it was a demo?

Well I found my own answer. From Toyota's website:

The warranty period begins...or used as a company car or demonstrator.

Sounds like the 8500 miles would be considered part of the 36000 mile warranty.
