FYI factory tint is 20% which are on all the windows except the fronts. Just tint it like everyone else do will save u lots trouble and money.

Just make sure that you go dark enough to match the rear windows. Anything lighter and your front windows will appear very green since the glass is green and it'll show through light tint.

check with the laws in regards to the tint. Many places allow a certain amount of tint on the driver/passenger windows while other places allow none.
I did 23% up front and added addition tint to the rears to make it 12%. I always like my windows in the rear to be darker than the front.

All aftermarket tint in PA is illegal, period. They won't pull you over just for the tint though. You only get nailed for it here if you get pulled over for something else and they notice it. I've had dark tint on all of my vehicles and never had any trouble with the law. I don't think you'll find factory tinted front windows. I don't even know if there is a such thing here, maybe I'm wrong. The reason it's illegal most places is because it's a security risk for Police Officers when they approach a vehicle and can't see what the people inside are doing (holding a weapon for example). If you get pulled over and you have dark front windows, just put both of them down, no big deal.

They can't possibly offer "factory tint" on the front windows simply because I'm sure during the manufacturing process, they can't determine what state/country the vehicle is intended for and their specific state/country rules and regulations.
And even if they tinted it for you on-site at the dealership, it still would be considered "aftermarket" and would be illegal in PA.
In the 4+ years I lived in da 'Burgh (Pitt grad) I drove a 1993 Honda Civic hatchback with limo tint all around (think it was 5%). Never got harassed or even pulled over once because of it. Even got stopped on the PA Turnpike for speeding and the State Trooper didn't say a word about it. Just handed me my $200 ticket and sent me on my way.
Go with the 15 or 20% tint. Worse case is you get a ticket and have to rip it off. $70 is a minor price to pay to roll the dice that you don't ever get pulled over by a prick cop who wants to bust your chops.

I don't believe the tint laws in PA (of course now I say that, I'll be pulled over). The following website is a great read for those in PA that plan to tint. I think it's for these reasons why PA troopers don't say anything. I have all of the paperwork in my car just in case though.

i live somewhat close to PA and i've noticed a bunch of cars w/ PA plates w/ tint all around. some go even further by nearly blacking out their license plate. makes me jealous. NJ is real harsh w/ tint depending on the area. i so want to tint my front two windows, but the cops in my GFs town (Holmdel) are notorious for busting balls about tint amongst other things (Mark86 can vouch for me on this). and yeah, i worry more about her town than mine which is odd, i know. also i think in NJ they can pull you over for your tint.

The other problem is passing the state inspection. To my knowledge most inspection stations won't pass with the dark side windows. Yet if the dark windows are factory ,there's no problem. You may have to shop around for a station that will pass you....too much hassle for me.

that's a good point. i'm not sure what PAs inspection schedule is like, but in NJ it's now 4 years, which by the time you have your first inspection, you'd probably need to replace the tint anyway. unless of course you find a shop like my GF had to w/ her VW
