Factory window tint

Solice,

Be careful what you say is the law in PA, when in fact you are wrong. Thankfully. PA's website is pretty good and on it you will find this form showing that window tint is perfectly legal. I know, I know, I also have been thru the tint game, the cops dont like it so they pressure the inspection stations to not pass cars with tint. Its a total snaffu by our lovely PA state police. Or you local Boss Hogg.

Yeah I read the same thing. I was just going off what 3 of my uncles (2 staties, 1 hampden township), 2 aunt's (1 silver spring, 1 hampden township) and 1 grandfather (retired state police) have been telling me :D . They always said I can go as dark as I want and the cops won't get pull me over for it. As soon as I get pulled over for a tail light or something else stupid, then they can nail me for the tint. I never really cared one way or the other. Every car I've ever owned has been tinted all the way around. I just got the front 2 on my Runner tinted today @ 15% :) .

tinted windows

pennsylvania inspection stations no longer will reject a vehicle because of tinted windows.this is now strictly a police decision and some have been required to remove it after being stopped for a violation. i have never had a problem and i have been pulled over for a minor violation with no mention about my tinted front windows.if your respectful and not being a problem i think most times it won't come up.

I got my front windows tinted on Sat and I told them to match the back. Well the fronts are way to dark! I think they used 20% and you can tell the difference inside and out. I took it back to the tint place and they wanted to charge me another $60 to put lighter tint. Well they say that they were cutting me a break because if I bought the warrany they would only chage me $20 for the glue removal. If I did not get the warranty it would cost me another $170. What a RIP...Can I post where I got my tint and where not to go in Maryland??

Yeah that's basically how I thought of it. The inspection part was the only thing I was unsure about so thanks for clearing that up :) . I have also been told before that SUV's can get away with darker tinting a lot of the time because of the dark factory tint it comes with, it doesn't stand out as much as a car where all the windows are clear (usually). Like you said, as long as you not weaving in and out of traffic and flying around (drawing attention to yourself) I don't think there will be any problems ;): .

Yeah, I agree, its a total pain. All because the cops want to strongarm us, and the inspection stations. Inflating their ego. There are many states out there that its not even a question, and if you ever lived down south or out in the southwest, you know what I am talking about. You basically have to have tint to even ride in the car, otherwise you boil. The cops in those parts never hassled me, or any other person I knew of, nor did they threaten you with this or that because of simple window tint.

Its a joke in PA. One of the irritating things about this state. Most inspection stations have no clue on the real law, they go off of what Sheriff Barney told them, and dammit thats the law. And cops hate to be told they are not right, just ask them.
