Failed State Inspection - Sway Bar

Just failed my state inspection due to my "L/S Sway Bar Link."

Guy said they could fix it for parts/labor $120.
He didn't really say what was wrong with it.. I think basically that I needed to replace it. Is this something I can fix myself? Am I getting ripped off?

In a bind without my car. Thanks for your help.

Okay I called the guy and all he could tell me was that my left side sway bar link was broken and I needed to replace it. Hopefully this is something I can do myself?

For sure the sway bar is just a couple bolts and some rubber washers should take about an hour for a an average Joe.

Picked up the part and fixed it in under an hour. Thanks guys. Too bad the shop to get my inspection redone doesn't open until Monday. It's a myth you can drive on a failed inspection for 15 days right? (in Virginia)

Yes you can drive for 15 days on a failed inspection. However, you are at risk for receiving a citation for the failed part.

Dont forget that is you go back to the same inspection station the new inspection is only $1. Also remember that this will not be another full inspection but only an inspection of the items that resulted in the rejection the first time.(If returning to the original station)
