Fake limited?

As Uneek said earlier, what is the 7th character in the VIN? If it's a 7 it's a Limited, if it's a 4 its an SR5/Sport.

Okay so after much examination of my friends nice 4runner. I am still left indecisive on whether to determine if it is a limited or SR5 converted. The biggest thing I am skeptical about is that he has the JBL Synthesis sound system. I have never seen that on a limited.

He has memory seats, dual power seats, dual AC climate control, steering functions, limited cluster gauge, homelink and the factory subwoofer.

I have an 08 Limited and I'm pretty sure it has the JBL Synthesis, that's the upgraded stereo right?

I have never seen a Limited that didn't have JBL,but the 06 brochure shows JBL as an option on all 3 models.Here is a link to show the different models and the changes year by year.

All 4runner have the JBL system but the synthesis is for like SR5's and sports i believe. And I have already flown home, so i cannot check the VIN anymore :/

My Limited has the Synthesis.

It seems like a real Limited. Otherwise the person went through some serious trouble to get their SR5 to be a Limited.

What sound system are you expecting the Limited to have? The JBL Synthesis system is the best available aside from the navigation JBL system.

I am sure that the Limited options for sound was standard (JBL Synthesis) or with Nav (with back up camera).

Regardless, neither are very good stereos, IMO

The brochure shows the 6 disc is standard equipment on the Limited and the JBL system is an option.

I asked my friend, and his 7th digit is a "7" therefore it is a true limited. It just looks so basic without the rear spoiler, and the JBL Synthesis system, maybe its just me. And his is a 2006

I should clarify my previous post, I meant "best" as a factory option, not from an audiophile stand point.

It gives a warm and fuzzy feeling knowing we paid more than just for the "Limited" badging.

And what's a "Limited" vehicle isn't so limited in terms of exclusivity.
