Falken Wildpeak AT3s...

Thanks guys on the rec to 255/80/17. I initially wanted 285/70/17, but didn’t want to do extensive trimming, etc.

Got them installed today. Did two things to clear rubbing which was remove mudflaps, and trimmed a bit of lower fender liner on bumper side and used Ziptied to move it forward a bit. Suspension is OME mediums and 1” BL

Had Hankook ATM prior that lasted just under 60k miles so looking forward to these

Are you running a lift with that size?

Falken lists LT255/80R17 being 33.1" on their website.
I compared mounted and unloaded side by side with stock:
Height:
• Bridgestone Dueler H/T 684II P265/70R17 - 31-5/8"
• Falken Wildpeaks LT255/80R17 AT3W - 33-1/4", 1-5/8" taller than stock.
However, they are 32-1/8" tall (mounted on vehicle @ 42PSI).
Thread width:
Stock: 7-1/2"
Falken: 7_3/4"
Spare fitment:
There is not a lot room left. Honestly, I don't think you can fit anything else bigger than this. At least with KDSS. There is 1/8" at the back (hitch and rear bumper) and about 5/8" gap at the front (stabi bar and kdss piston).

The AT3's are great tires, we run them on most of our toyota builds. Reliable, durable, grippy, and cheap!

Chiming in as well.

I had them on my 4R and got bombard from a Snowstorm during a trip to Lake Tahoe.. Went around the mountain passing doing 60mph without issues. Like I was really impress with it.. We had close to an inch of snow as well.. Traction was crazy good and enough to stop as well..

This are good tires and worth purchasing.

my room mate has em on his w250 that he bought early last year. i was so surprised by their overall performance that i bought 5 last weekend and had them mounted and balanced:

size is 285/75/16

since its only been a week and a half in the middle of summer, i havent had the chance to put them to the test with any snow on my rig. we did manage to go last winter in my room mates w250 and he ended up saving a lot of people. these tires did great. we only got stuck once the snow got axle/pumpkin deep (which is where rigs with a lot more $$ invested also got stuck, he's open diff F & R). other than that, tires did great. we went the year prior with some old, tired, bald tires on the w250 and got stuck a lot more. its amazing how much good tires can help you.

back to my 4runner. its only been a week and a half now and ive only put about 100 miles on these, but im still super impressed with how they ride and road noise. my other buddy has a 98 4runner with patagonia MTs in the same size. we drove next to each other (for science), and the road noise from his tires completely washed mine out. of course its apples to oranges comparision, but needless to say, he's already picked out his next set of tires.

finally, FWIW, i paid 960 locally (cash) for 5 tires mounted and balanced to my f5s. im in norcal (check craigslist). cheaper than i could find anywhere online.

also, in this size, it doesnt fit the spare wheel well. mine is currently residing in the back cargo area until i get bumpers.

Finally, after two months or more of waiting and searching 255/80R17 showed up yesterday on Tire buyer site. Ordered 5 today. I should be getting them Tuesday. arty:

I'm looking at this same tire and size for my 02' have you done much on a trail aired down? Someone mentioned that skinny you get very little to no side wall grip. Hoping you can share some experience.

I did few. Nothing crazy, a bit of everything though. Some wooden trails, a little mud couple rocky trails, had them @20 psi. No issues but again it wasn't anything extreme. LT255/80 are nice however they can loose a grip on wet. I heard P rated have silicone compound and supposed be much better in wet unfortunately they don't come in this size. Overall I'm happy with them. I may try P next time in 280, will see.

Hi, new member looking for some feedback on the AT3W's and can't post a new thread yet so wondered if anyone here maybe able to give some feedback. Picked up a 2021 T4R OR and wanted to chop the stock Dunlops out for the Falken Wildpeaks as the reviews seem to be great and I've run Falkens before on an old Land Rover Disco back in the UK.

Looking at staying stock size or maybe going with the 275/70R17's which only come in the C rated 6ply. I figure C rated ones would fare a little better off road but they seem to weigh a ton more than the stock size SL's (expected) but also 4lb more per tire than the E rated 265/70/R17's. Any input on the C rated would be much appreciated.

Regarding the SL rated tires are they a good bet for off roading? Is deflating a SL tire advised or is that not needed/detrimental to it, unlike the stiffer C/E rated tires? New to any serious off roading, the stuff I did in the Landy was out in Europe on beat up old logging roads and was never serious ventures so looking to build this new motor up a little more capable but still maintain a good on road ride.

As I mentioned, new to the forum so can't post a specific question yet so trying to find a thread where someone with experience of this maybe able to help find an answer. Thanks for any tips!
