Falken Wildpeak AT3W or BFG AT/KO2

After consideration, I ordered the falkens. Hopefully I don't see too much much power loss being that mine has factory 4:30s.
I appreciate everyone's input.
Look forward to getting these on with the 99 coils I have laying around before I move to Albany next month and drive 14hrs.

Just got my falken and they are quiet and smooth. I got them in p265/70/17 on my 2002 sport. It's a bigger tire then my cooper at3 and hankook atm in the same size. The height on car is about 31.5" and 9" measured width on thread pattern. The tire states 10.5" wide but that could be the widest part measured which will be in the mid flexible part of the tire. The cooper at3 and hankook measured 8" at tread width. I'm happy with the tires but will wait till about 40k to see if they get loud after wearing down. Was suppose to snow yesterday in boulder but didn't so was not able to test in snow or slush. The coopers weren't great and hankook were better so waiting on these falken to see how they do in snow. Tires were 433 dollars shipped from ebay discount tire after 100 off, great price and tax free. Went to my local discount tire and they said they could have matched it dollar for dollar including tax so next time i'll do that. I always ride tires for about a year and a half and sell them for 200 and pick up a new set for 400. I like new tires in the winter as the sipes on tires only go down about 5/32" anyways.

Great in the rainy weather & smooth, no ear ache road noise. Will miss the last bit of snow around here so until next time for that test. They do come in a drop below in overall thread life than the next competitor, ~10k miles less (vs Dynapro) but make up for it in other areas as expected. Great looking tire installed to top it off. Oh and last thing, Falken in general, run narrow as a tire especially when compared to BFG or Mich.

I have run BFG's for years for my all season tires. The KO2 is way better in the mud and snow then the old version...but not as good as a siped MT tire. The MT tires also are louder and wear out faster than the AT tread pattern. Sucks....but I guess I will keep swapping tires every fall and spring!!

Never run KO2s. Have stupid big Wildpeak AT3Ws on my Subaru and they ride as smooth as the stock granny tires did, equally quiet too. Traction in rain and snow is off the chart now - that car whooped my 4runner with Duratracs before, now it's just nuts.

I'd dump my <10k mile Duratracs for Wildpeaks if they made em in load range C. If they don't produce something other than load range E by the time I'm due for tires, I'll get them in P rated. I tore a slit in the sidewall of some P rated Goodyear Silent Armors in my Tacoma and it sucked, but the place I did it at also sucked and I'm cool with never beating the piss out of any of my vehicles on a many hour long trail of sharp rocks again.

Got them installed.
Install thoughts: smooth, quiet.
Really heavy. Lost all low end tq even with 4:30 gearing.

They weight almost 20lbs/more per tire than the 265/70/17 coopers.

I put new tires on, new ball joints and the trucks shakes even worse going down the highway.
Firestone mounted and balanced the Falkens, did a realignment on the vehicle, and a check of the front suspension and said everything was tight.
I took it on a 6 hr trip and at first everything was nice and smooth
The more I drove it, the worse it got. Everything still seems tight but is there a chance that the heavy tires and increasingly making the worn rubber oem steering bushings that much worse, that quickly?

I ordered total chaos steering rack bushings and control arm bushings from ToyTec.
Hopefully that solves it but currently I will not be driving it 1000 miles to NY with that front end condition

Yes they do.

I parked next to my mother in laws JK with KO2s and the Falkens have a much more aggressive looking side profile.

I've always liked and driven on BFGs. We test drove a pre-owned T4R that the dealer had installed Wild Peaks on. I was happy with the ride but my wife was not. She said the ride felt rougher. Falken or BFG, both a capable and good looking tire.

90% highway/10% city.
19.5 mpg (326 miles)

Actually did not get to ride in the snow today as I just stayed home and the snow melted before it even hit the roads. I hope for a blizzard so I could test these as last year's snowfall was ridiculous and the cooper atp and at3 were not great, sold them quick and for some reason people buy them quick. The coopers are not snow or m&s rated. I have hankook on my 4th gen and those are better in snow, I wanted to try these falken but Damn they are wide and bigger then the coopers and falken in 17". I will let you know how they ride if the snow ever comes back.

Subscribed - i have a steering wheel shimmy above 50 that cuts out around 70 - started about a 1K miles after installing the Falkens (same size). Rotated the tires when i hit 5K of use, shimmy still there. Look forward to your results when you install the new gear.

They have the same sidewall on both sides of the tire, if you are referring to if one side is aggressive and the other side is not. Both sides black walls no white lettering on one side. Hope this answers your question. My p rated 17's ride smooth and no shakes even when they didnt mount the yellow dot where the stem is.

One side just has raised lettering vs flat on the other side. No white lettering to be had on the wildpeaks
