Falls Lift Questions

Ok, so I finally got around to an Old Man Emu 3" lift. Went soft/soft for springs and shocks on my 2014 TE.

I also had 285/70/R17 BFG AT KO2s installed, with factory UCAs.
Alignment shop got the caster to .5 on one side, and 1.1 on the other. My guess is they could have maxed out both, but they did this in favor of cross-caster to be a min of .5.

Anyway it looks like I am rubbing front wheels on the mud flaps. Has anyone tried modifying the mud flaps instead of just removing them entirely? I was thinking of using a heat gun where the contact patch is and just trying to push them back a bit?

Thanks.

I was working under my 2016 Limited to allieve some rubbing issues and noticed the liners are a bit different than the tried and true methods. So i took a slight different approach with the outer clip. This still have me a solid inch of movement. These pics were after i trimmed the outer corner a bit.

I cut a slit closer to the tire are to allow the plastic clip to slide into. Otherwise there's only about 1/2 inch to gain. This means you have to reposition how the clip attaches to the other liner. You can also see my crudely drilled hole.

The second pic shows the clip in its new position (@%1; style). The new hole isnt quite lined up in this shot because... i suck at taking pictures upside down.

Third pic shows it all buttoned up.

Here's how I trimmed my fenders. The red circle is the tire rub and the blue circle is where the body mount is. I saw no need in trimming the mud flap since it would probably just get ripped off anyways, i just removed it. The first blue arrow is the drivers side bumper rub. Then the line i cut on the tape. The roll of tape was used to hold the inner fender back while i cut the bumper corner. The next arrows are to show where to drill to pull the inner fender forward away from the tire. the blue arrows are the OE holes and the red arrows show where i drilled my holes. the last two pics show the new clearance from the tires.

The tires in the pics are Nitto Ridge Grapplers mounted on after market wheels.

Here is the Passenger inner fender. The passenger side bumper will trim the same as the driver side. The blue arrows are the factory OE holes and the red arrows are the holes I drilled. The red line is where it needs to be cut. Pic after cutting on the red line and the clearance after its done.

These mods are on a TRD OR, not sure if all other fenders are the same.

I know it's an older post....but:

I zip tied my mud flaps so they didn't hang so close to the tire. Stopped the rubbing.

Thanks Gascat for the great pics, this will work well for the 285 Ridge Grapplers on our new ‘18 TRDOR.

canucktrd My driverside front tire rubs on the body mount when turning and in reverse, let me know if yours does the same. I have also installed my lift since the pics, is yours lifted.

Hey Gascat. Yes, it’s been lifted 3 in the front so hoping that helps. We’re in a deep, freeze up here so the winters will be on for a bit but as soon as the spring arrives I will get the new rims and summer Ridge Grapplers on and do the body/wheel well work as well as remove the mud flaps. Thanks again for the pics, makes me think it shouldn’t be too much work.
