Great build!
I really like what you have done with your car.

I just had a question about the tires.
The 285 KO2 have a rim range of 7.5-9.
The SR5 rims are 7.
Have you run in to any issues running those tires?

Not at all and I have put them under a TON of stress

What kind of issues do you think i could experience running the tires on stock rims? Just curious

Thats great to hear as I am about to get some Bilsteins and FC Coils for my SR5.
I would like to buy tires but it would be a bit of a strain to get wheels as well.
It will be much easier to split the tire and wheel purchase.

From what I have read online, some people say that the .5 inch (or even more) will be completely fine while others will say that it will put a lot of pressure on the tires and make them deformed or that the tire shop wont even put them on the rim.

I asked you because I wanted the opinion of someone who actually had the tire and wheels instead of just theoretical knowledge.

Hmm well if thats true i would think the only shop that would give you a hardtime are the bigger corporate chains like firestone but if you went to a local rim/tire dealer im sure they will stick anything on for you within reason..

It definitely doesnt warp the tire and from my experience (12k miles on these ko2's already) including a fl to yellowstone road trip and countless back country overlanding and wheeling trips... i have stressed the joints, tires everything!!!! to the point where i thought I would blow a cv joint or SOMETHING but nothing ever happened and the truck is still running great...

So my advice stay with a 285 or less on stock wheels... get the tires you want... then give it a few months for the check book to recover and get your rims later... there is no rush really besides bragging rights... we will upgrade our rims likely sometime next year or december the earliest...

How are your 285 tires holding up on the stock wheels? I'd rather not have to buy new wheels when I upgrade my tires. What was the mpg drop when you got them installed?

Also, where did/how did you install your PA speaker?

PA speaker is behind the grill basically under the hood latch
We love the 285s and have not experienced any issues with our lift on stock wheels.
When we added the SSS front bumper the front came down a little and the tire began to rub some plastic so we cut it off and everything as been smooth since.

sanded them down, 3 coats of black primer, sanded again after that cured, 3 coats of "storm gray metallic" by dupli color and then 3 coats of clear coat =p so ya no plasti dip there

Haha naw there are much nicer 5th gens out there especially when we first started but they just motivated us! So never stop modding! Haha

I find those factory wheels to be as good looking as any of the aftermarket options, especially the way you've painted them. Great T4R!

Thanks!!! and it was nerve wrecking! Once we started sanding them down I was like "I hope i know what I am doing" lmao but we were just psyching ourselves out it was easy just time consuming did all 4 then ordered a matching 5th on ebay and did that one... I have banged the breaker bar and socket into them and no chip yet so i am pretty happy with them!

What did you find needed to be adjusted or complications during your FL to Maine expedition?
Did the OME 898's soak up a lot of the weight from the bumper?

Getting air lockers next month I think so we should be more worthy! haha

Please post some progress pics when you do the lockers! I'm always up to strengthening and adding a locker to my rear diff.

Thanks! Honestly we love our OME 898's they lift our heavy rear end like nothing and in combination with our integrated hitch we have clearance for days! Except this one time that was completely user error lol

We trashed the rear bumper on this trip but the bumper and fenders have experienced no damage at all and the bumper has yet to hit the fenders once... the flex problem actually cracked our tail light a little but only because we dropped down a massive rock a little to quick and careless and ended up resting the whole weight of the vehicle on the rear bumper for about 1-2 seconds as we slid off causing it to push the bumper ALL the way up and it was a bit too much pressure for the tail light to take... So on production models SSS will be adding additional space around the tail light region to help prevent this going forward. That being said we couldn't take a picture of the impact because it happened so fast lol but here is a pic of the taillight. Aren't you glad we are the test subject?! Haha that is why it is a prototype =)

Heres my question, (see image) you had ToyTec/Bilstein 3" struts installed, were these them? I have 5100's all the way around, with my fronts set at 1.75", with TRD Eibach tuned springs. How do you manage to have a level ride? Are you set up at the factory setting for the 5100's and the 3" spacer?

On to a brighter note, traveling from Texas to Georgia this weekend and stopping in Baton Rouge to see SSS and talk about a front and rear bumper.
