They ended up choosing the earlier date of the 5th, since the main organizer has school starting early. But still, keep it in mind, would be awesome if you could make it! And I need to get my CVs rebooted, I'd like to pickup a spare OEM one from the place in Denver, but don't have the funds right now and I'm worried how much shipping will cost lol. Asin manual hubs would be awesome, how would that work?

Check this out for Aisin Hubs Aisin Manual Hubs. Basically it allows you to completely disconnect the front end. Less moving parts on a regular basis leads to less wear and tear.

Dang the 5th will be a little bit harder for me to swing but I guess we will see the closer it gets to that time. Probably depends on how much money I need to make for next semester compared to how much I spend on the runner!

Thanks for checking out the photos! It would be awesome if you could come! I'm only doing Leg 1 at this point, which is the Morrison Trail (not doing the switchbacks though!) and Goose Lakes in Montana... Should be fun though!

No watermarks allowed which is what makes the site great.

You are putting them in the public domain by uploading them. You would get credit on the download page. Check out the site if you haven't already. They have really awesome collection of 4000+ resolution wallpapers which anyone can DL for free. You picture would have to be selected so it is more of a bragging right than anything else.

Yellowstone National Park / Grand Teton National Park

I had the opportunity to visit the Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks. I had been wanting to explore both parks for some time, especially now that I was older, had my 4Runner, and a good camera.

I did two days, camping overnight in the 4Runner at a campground in Grand Teton NP on my sleeping platform (WIN!). It was pretty awesome.

So I drove through Yellowstone, to the Grand Tetons, stayed the night, and then drove back out through Yellowstone. Both of these parks are right next door, not that far away from me. The park had only been open a week, and the State of Wyoming, the City of Cody, Wyoming, private donors, and the US National Park Service all cooperated and put forth efforts to open Yellowstone early despite the infamous sequestration. So LOTs of snow!

Quick facts:

• 600 miles roundtrip
• 1k photos taken
• 21.8 MPG on the way there - the way back was 23.8 MPG.
• NO muffler, haven't gotten it on yet. Loud, but self explanatory with my license plate (deaf)!
• Saw 2 grizzlies (one in each park)
• two bull elk
• two moose
• lots of bison (aka cattle to me)
• some bighorn sheep right before Yellowstone NP

Now that our Baby is here, it'll be a few years so it's really cool to be able to experience it through your lens.

This is my first comment in this thread, but I have viewed/read every post since you started it, and I've got to say that your photography skills have improved noticeably. Keep up the great work, and I'll look forward to the remaining shots.

Thanks Nick for stopping by and checking out the photos over time! I'm glad to hear that people are looking, even if they don't comment or like all the time. Its also good to hear that I'm improving, outside perspectives help alot!

Yeah, it is a long trip to do, being pregnant would have complicated things, it'll be easier when you do go! Would recommend Jenny Lake Campground (tent only) if you want to camp, especially in the 4Runner - I did my sleeping platform, very self-contained. Gorgeous up there, try to go in the spring for the most snow with the driest roads.

Yellowstone & The Grand Tetons: Day 2 - Part 1

So, here is Day 2 of my weekend trip to Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks.

If you haven't been following from the earlier post, you can see info, stats, and Day 1 here: YELL/GRTE Day 1.

I camped in Grand Teton National Park, at the Jenny Lake, TENT-ONLY campground. Now, this makes my rig and my sleeping platform all the more awesome, because, all I had to do was pull into a space, set up my platform, and my camp was set. I didn't touch the fire ring and did store some stuff in the bear cache, but that wasn't really needed, as my 4R is hardsided, obviously.

It was awesome, I slept well with my new-to-me thermarest, and it was still spring, so very few skeeters (aka mosquitos). My setup:

Me being me, and in the 4Runner, I had to take any dirt roads I could find and explore them. This was literally one of the two or three roads of any significance that a) wasn't closed and/or b) went back further than 100 feet, not leading to a campground or such. The snow was melting, so the two tracks were full of water running, with lots of bare, exposed rock (aka great traction)...

So, I encounter this tree. I'm thinking, this is the end of my adventure on this road, I've only gone a couple hundred feet. Then it hits me that I have a small hand saw with me, a foldable camp one, in my gear. I whip it out, and within minutes, I am on my way. Take that, tree! :dance:

Where I turned around. Around the corner, there was a big snow drift, I was alone, spotty cell coverage, and no winch (or even a high-lift). I knew I would probably get stuck, so I turned around. (Winching is easy in this area, lots to latch onto).
