Fedex LOST my TIRES

I'm a little bit baffled how a shipping company loses five 33" tires weighing 60 lbs each lol.

They were scheduled to be delivered yesterday 3/13, but the tracking was stuck at "in transit Bethlehem, PA" for a few days.

It finally updated to this.... I spoke with fedex and they are trying to locate the package. My guess... an employee stole them lol.

damn.. that sucks!!! the only story I have is: a friend shipped me christmas gifts, turns out the apartment complex told the mail deliverer we don't live there (our lease had 1 more week) and it was returned. but there was no returned address, so... it went back to Washington and I still have no idea where it is.

but update this thread bc i wanna know what happens!!! also loved the video, man
 
I deal with shipping companies on a regular basis… I’m not surprised, I have seem them loose much larger things before.

The level of DGAF is pretty high with most carriers.
 
My lift kit has been lost since January.

Finally getting a new set sent to me. Not surprised at all it happens. All it takes is it to go on the wrong route.
 
The title is misleading. Just because it is stuck in one location does not mean it is "lost" or "stolen by an employee". It's like waiting for 20 minutes at mcdonald's for your big mac and assuming it isn't coming because the staff is eating it.
 
The stuck in transit part just means that the last time the shipment was scanned and placed in an outbound linehaul to hub or final mile facility was in Bethlehem, PA.

Just a guess, but the delay may also be the result of the manner that they were packaged for shipment. If individually packaged, then any cargo van should be able to deliver. If bundled as a single unit or even bundled as 2 doubles and one single, they likely have to go out on a box truck with a lift gate and pallet jack.

FedEx drivers have to be able to lift or manipulate up to 75 lbs individually. If even 2 tires are bundled and the other 3 are loose, the maximum weight that a driver would have to manipulate is in excess of driver requirements and will necessitate the entire shipment being moved to your front door via mechanical assistance.

And, I could be totally wrong too. Just saying they may not be lost or stolen, just delayed for other reasons.
 
now what service did you use for the shipping?
is it ground? express or overnight?
if its ground, they have 5 days to get to you when its picked up.
if its express, they have 3 days to get to you when its picked up.
if its overnight , theres 2 type of overnight, 1 at 10am or earlier delivery and the other one is 2 if i remember.
i could be wrong on the ground, but its the least expensive to use for shipping.
now if the package did route to oakland or ontario or l.a. in ca i might be able to give you some time on the flights out, i work afternoons and nights at the oakland hub, so i can give some info on what flight it might be on.

also sign up on the fedex app, they do tell customers when there is a storm and it delays packages.
atleast the last email i got is they experience a delay at the memphis hub (main super hub).

your tires could be packaged as either 5 by itself, or 2 together with 1 by itself. oversize packages takes more space so it cost a little more.
 
I'm currently looking at the same kind of Fed Ex tracking screen. I sent off a package from Los Angeles on Tuesday for Colorado. Supposed to arrive there Thursday. Fed Ex tells me the delay was due to the blizzard in Colorado on Wednesday. Which is absolutely reasonable. However , they are now also telling they can't find the package and that its last scan was in Los Angeles on Tuesday.

I'm gonna give it a day or two and hopefully it turns up.

Maybe weather was a factor in your case as well?
 
I bought a vintage Battlestar Galactica Cylon Raider toy from ebay in Dec last year. It's still in transit at a USPS facility somewhere in North Dakota...:whistle:
 
Craziest thing, my 5 tires just showed up yesterday via UPS, and 5 wheels via FedEx (without the seller even providing me tracking info).

Ultimately, they'll probably pop up somewhere, I've been getting FedEx weather delay notifications via email a few times this week.

Yes you are correct, more accurate title wouldve been Fedex Temporarily lost my tires!

Yeah they showed up as 5 individual pieces with 5 tracking numbers. I guess when fedex called back and said "we can't locate the package" it made me a bit panicky

Thanks for that info. The concerning part was there was no weather delay. The person I spoke with told me they might be in the "lost and found" where labels get damaged. They finally arrived 8 or 9 days (including sunday) after they were picked up by fedex.


Its crazy that they were delivered with no signature... came home to 5 tires stacked on my front porch! hahahahah.

oh yeah... and ofcourse... just got the tires on today!
