Hello, I am new here. Thinking of buying a 2015 4runner limited. I really like the truck and have driven it. There are only two concerns that have come up on my radar. The first is around steering wheel vibration, is this common or isolated issue? I drove a 2014 that seemed to have this issue, but the 2015 did not. The second question I have is around mold issues, my understanding is that this issue was in different Toyota's something to do with a heating element, is this still an issue? So what I am asking is the folks who have purchased the 4runner either last year (2014) or this year(2015) are you having either of these issues? I know all vehicles can have issues, but I would like to avoid buying something that has a 90% chance of having an issue from the beginning that should have been fixed by the manufacturer. Appreciate you candor on this front. Other then these two issues, the truck seems pretty bullet proof which I like. Any other tips or info I should know would be great as well. Thanks for you help.

My 2014 Limited has no vibrations, drives and handles great. I never heard of or had a mold issue but I live in the dry desert. The one you drove probably needs the tires rebalanced.

No issues on my 2014 limited. From a reliability and mechanical standpoint I'm sure you will be happy with your purchase.

I do not have a Limited but my 2015 TE does not exhibit any vibration issues. This is the first I have heard of a mold problem.

I have a 2015 Limited. No issues with vibration. I had a FJ Cruiser so I know a bit about vibration....

I have a 2014 Limited. I don't have either of those problems and I live in a humid climate (during summer). I would read the link below regarding 5th gen alignment. It will give you an idea about caster issues and how to fix the wander that the trucks have over bumpy or windy roads. It's easily fixed with an alignment, but your problem, as stated, sounds more like a tire balance issue. Could be as simple as a wheel weight falling off. I wouldn't let either of those questions stop you from buying, because they are both covered under warranty.

Boring in the best way possible...
2014 T4R Limited here... no steering wheel vibrations (and I'm really picky about that), and no stinky A/C, which I think is the 'mold' issue you're referring to. 13.5K miles so far and nothing worth getting in a twist about. I'll be securing some 17" wheels down the road... but that's another story.

I really appreciate the quick responses to my questions. You all made good points and provided the feedback I was looking for, I really like the 4runner and can now work with the dealer to see if they can find find the right color combo and options, if not I will order. Looking forward to using it in the snow. Thanks.

I had a '14 SR5 and now have a '15 TE. Neither had/have any of the issues you mentioned.

early 2014 LE here. no vibes but then again I haven't done any curb checks like the warden does all the dam time.
mold issue. the only time I see this issue is when you run the a/c and just turn off the vehicle. over time those coils get a weird smell since your leaving that wetness on the coils.
best bet is to run the a/c and about 1 minute from your destination, turn off the a/c and just let it run air over the coils to dry them out.
the warden always gets the weird smell on her a/c after a while since she never the above, whereas my vehicles I never get that smell.
but that's just my scenario.
