Fender Flare build

Hey Guys,
Had an idea today after watching some videos on youtube today. Been looking at buying some fender flares for my 4runner. After watching some bumper builds I came across a fender flare build for jeeps. This sparked an idea in my mind of trying to make some tube fender flares for my 4runner. Im thinking something along the lines of the jeep wrangler jk tube fenders made by metal cloak. Wondering what you guys think of the idea and if anyone would be interested in a write up as I build them?

I was thinking the same thing and somehow tie it into the sliders and the bumpers for an exo cage type thing

I've been wanting to do this exact thing for several years now. In fact, my buddy and I were just talking about it again yesterday. Do it!

I think it would be interesting. I really like them on JKs, curious to see how they'd look on ours..

Should be pretty easy for the tube work. The sheet metal work is going to be the hardest part. I've built similar flares to the Metal Cloaks for my old jeep, and it wasn't very difficult. I would make sure to tie it into the inner fender for a little more rigidity.

I was going to do this until a buddy showed me what happened to his friends landcruiser. the tube simply crushed into the body when it got hit and jammed the door closed. if you reinforced it by making supports that go through the wheel well to the frame it should be a lot stronger than what he had.

A lot of jeeps are using flexible fender flares now for this exact reason. you can still slide along them but they wont crush your truck they just flex back.
