Fender Flare & Running Board Pic Thread

Can you guys post some pics of 3rd gen runners with fender flares....I cant find any pics of them.....So bushwacker, oem, or any aftermarket ones.....

I will once mine arrive, painted and then installed..... I ordered the Extend-A-Fender. These can be painted to match your existing color or you can leave them mat black.

Highlander flare is I believe what is pictured with rdgt4r above

the flat black ones are SR5 flares

the limited flares accomodate the body side cladding on the doors

what do you mean by highlander flare? i havent heard that term...isnt that just a limited flare? here is a pic of my lame ass stock beater....i am trying to fugure out if I want black fender flares or extend a fender in matched color....I have that plain color truck....I also cant decide if I want my running boards on or off....What do you think.....

the "highlander flare" is found on 99 4runners with the factory hood scoop. the 4runner highlander in 99 was a sport edition with the smaller sr5 flares. from 00+, they used the wider limited flares on the sport models without the cladding.

i just got the extend a fenders from bushwacker and they are getting painted to match right now. probably going to install them this weekend so ill be posting pics up soon.

I myself was not exactly sure...I just know those are the ones I want to get now for my ride....

inshore4runner-the Bushwackers come in black standard but can be painted to match your body.

a little off topic but heres some pics of mine.

Here is a comparision of with the flares you have and with no flares or running boards. to me it looks like a lot of work to retrofit limited flares on out sr5 runners. but im not a fan of the sr5 flares but i do like the skinny black sr5 ones. and check out the sliders, a lot better than running boards i think

and plus you can sell your running boards to some poor sap and help pay for what ever you decide

yeah that is what I would like this thread to have....before and after of fender flares and running boards..It is one of those things that you have to see dozens of different looks before you can decide how you like your truck..I just posted a thread in detailing about carpet removal if anyone wants to check it out...It is kinda long but it shows how to remove your carpet and clean it step by step......thanks for the pics

yeah everyone is going to have different ideas and things that they actually go out and do. if your gonna use your runner for any off road use you will know quick that the running boards get in the way a lot and sometimes you would of wished you took them off when they still look good.

it also gives it a certain look, bigger and not hanging down low like a body kit. but some people like that low look. its not to hard to take em off and check out how it looks, its 6 bolts per side.

It is a little unclear but as far as I can tell these are the thinner black OE flares like the third 4Runner in the first picture posted. It shows a different picture but the description says that it gives .75 of tire coverage, which is the same 3/4" coverage that the black OE ones offer. Am I correct? That's a great price I'm just unsure about which style the flares actually are and wanna confirm before buying.

Here's the Bushwacker Extend-a-flares on my '97. They were painted but don't need to be to look good.

I don't see too many Limiteds where the flares/cladding are painted the exact same color as the body, as in my case. I really like it. A friend of mine has a 97 Limited that is the same color as my truck but his flares/cladding are a mores straight silver and I don't like it as much.

Here is a picture of before the boards were removed BTW.. Note: the above picture includes 3" lift and larger tires so don't be fooled.

RON- The fenders are exactly what i want....it is hard to tell how they look/the size of them because of the difference in color (gloss black/red) but they seem like the same as the limited oem...Are you happy with the way the gloss turned out?

TRD- your ish is looking smooth!!! your runner sits really nice...I love that look....the mild lift with a 31/32" tire...Its amazing how different it looks with a little lift and a bigger tire....it doesnt even look like the same truck in any way....GOOD JOB with your choices!!
