Fender liner completely removed

The only major consequence I can think of is water getting into the engine air intake inlet which could then make it's way into the engine.
I was thinking about doing a front bumper replacement and figured that the fender liner would need to be removed anyways. The only negative I can see for now is getting gunk in the fog light housing.

I removed mine awhile back, I had an issue with an excessive amount of dirt and gravel getting into my airbox. I put a snorkel on it which solved the issue, and I also am running a custom front bumper. You'll get your engine bay a little more dirty and junk in your airbox, but thats about it.
Is the stuff getting into the airbox while wheeling or from everyday driving on paved roads?

Without the fender liner? wouldn't go past half your tire and don't even dare to splash. With the liner there it creates enough of an air bubble that it would keep water out with a good bow wave and not stopping to the point you could go up to your fender. Without the liner that protection is no longer there and it's a bit of a gamble.
Isn’t the fender liner completely removed when installing an aftermarket armor bumper?

You can cut it and leave a big chunk of it there or just strip it out. I stripped mine out.
If you want to remove the inner fenders but are worried about getting water and mud in the air intake, you could place it where I did in the attached pic. I just rotated it 180 degrees from the factory location so that I could fit my Viar setup. Doing so places the intake opening in the engine compartment.

Makes sense. I do the same thing around the venting around house to keep the critters out.

Don't mean to bump this old thread but didn't want to make a new one....
What did you guys do about the sensor that's covered by the wheel liner? I'm worried that it's a crash sensor/air bag sensor, so if something bumps it while driving, the airbags might deploy....
